Trial Circle Ruins is a treasure points of interest type in Windrose built around lit braziers and firebowls. It comes in two flavours that can appear on your map: a casual northern site that is a straightforward dig-and-loot treasure hunt, and a southern site gated behind a firebowl puzzle that must be solved before its sealed chamber opens. Because islands are procedurally generated, the exact placement of each site changes between worlds.
Property | Value |
|---|---|
Type | Treasure POI (firebowl puzzle) |
Variants | Northern (casual treasure hunt) and Southern (puzzle-gated) |
Puzzle | Light four braziers to open the sealed door |
Reported chests | Around five across the site, including the sealed final chest |
The northern Trial Circle Ruins are the easier of the two. A pair of chests sit above ground, with more chests waiting in the underground chambers below. There is no firebowl puzzle to solve here, so it plays as a standard explore-and-loot ruin: clear the enemies, drop down into the lower rooms, and open everything you find.
The southern site is the one most players mean when they talk about the Trial Circle puzzle. A sealed door blocks the final treasure chamber, and four braziers around the ruin must all be lit to open it.
Two of the four braziers already have their firebowls in place.
The other two firebowls are missing and must be carried in from side paths to the left and right of the entrance.
Carrying a firebowl slows you down, so scout each path first and watch for trap walls and enemies before you pick one up. There are ancient chests and skeletons to loot along these side routes as well.
Place each missing firebowl on an empty brazier and light all four. The door then unlocks and you can claim the chest inside.
Unlike a code-style sequence puzzle, the order you light the braziers in does not matter; the gate is simply having all four lit at once. The intended challenge is finding and transporting the two missing firebowls, not memorising a combination.
The chests hold biome-tier loot, typically a mix of crafting materials, refined goods, and the occasional rarer find. Because Windrose rolls procedural loot tables per save, the exact contents differ between worlds, so treat any single drop list as an example rather than a guarantee. The sealed chamber behind the four-brazier door holds the headline reward of the site.
Drop a Fast Travel Bell once you reach the ruin so you can return for a second pass without the long approach.
Bring a light source for the underground chambers; the lower rooms are dark.
Clear the side-path enemies and traps before you start carrying a firebowl, since you cannot fight effectively while holding one.
