Sweet Potato Sapling is a Seedbed-only farming plant in Windrose. Once mature it can be harvested for Sweet Potatoes and Sweet Potato Seeds.

Each ripe Sweet Potato Sapling returns both the crop and a replacement seed, so a stocked Seedbed keeps producing without you ever having to forage again once the loop is started.

1 or more | The mature crop, the reason to grow this plant | |
1 | Replants the same plant, so the cycle is seed-neutral |
This plant only grows inside a player-built Seedbed. A Seedbed section is crafted with 5 Fertile Soil each and placed through the build menu under the Farming tab. Each section accepts up to four plants, one in each corner. Walk up to an empty corner with the Sweet Potato Sapling in the inventory and place it from the radial menu.
Sweet Potato Sapling is obtained as a drop from harvesting wild Sweet Potato plants in the world. There is no vendor that sells seeds or saplings, so the first stack of any plant has to be foraged.
A single Seedbed section costs 5 Fertile Soil and holds four plants, so a four-plant bed of this sapling needs one section and yields four crops plus four fresh seeds per cycle. Place several sections side by side at the home base to scale output, since growth runs in parallel across every planted corner.
Plants in Windrose take roughly 70 minutes of real time to grow to full size. Growth continues while the player is offline, so a freshly planted sapling will be ready next session. When ripe, the plant changes to a fully matured model with a faint highlight on inspection.
Press E on a mature plant to harvest. The harvest yields the listed crop plus a fresh seed of the same plant, so a single sapling effectively reseeds itself with no net seed loss.
Sweet potatoes are one of the better stamina-restoring foods available from a low-tier kitchen, and they fold into ration dishes that survive long voyages without spoiling.
Mature plants have 1,500 Max Health, so they survive being struck or grazed without dying instantly. Harvested Sweet Potato feeds into stamina dishes such as Beans with Mushrooms and Sweet Potato, which makes a home seedbed of this plant a steady supply line for Stamina Management on long voyages.
Always harvest the seed back. Walking away from a finished plant before pressing E does not consume the seed, but breaking the plant with a tool will.
Pack a stack of saplings before sailing far. Harvested wild plants drop saplings inconsistently, and a small portable supply means the home base never runs dry of starter stock.
Saplings do not decay in inventory, so it is safe to overstock and replant only as space frees up in the seedbed.
