Shrub Sapling is a ground-planted tree sapling in Windrose. Unlike Seedbed crops it grows directly on any soil tile in the player's base footprint and does not require a Seedbed structure. It is the plantable form of the Shrub.
Grows only on the ground.
Walk up to clear ground inside the player's base with the sapling in inventory and select Plant from the radial menu. The sapling locks into place and starts the growth timer immediately. Plants take roughly 70 minutes of real time to reach full size; the growth continues even while the player is offline.
Mature Shrubs produce Plant Fiber, Shrub Seeds, and the occasional foraged ingredient on harvest. Each harvest returns a replacement seed, so a planted shrub keeps reseeding itself at no net seed cost.
Mature trees do not auto-respawn after chopping. Replant a fresh sapling on the same tile to refill the slot.
Shrubs are the only farmable source of Plant Fiber, and because each plant uses only a single seed they are the cheapest way to keep a steady fiber supply once a small cluster is established. Plant Fiber is consumed in bulk by rope and rigging crafting, so a row of shrubs near the workbench removes the need to forage wild scrub every time supplies run low. A handful of plants on open ground keeps a base self-sufficient.
Drops from harvesting wild Shrub trees in the Coastal Jungle and on outer islands. There is no vendor that sells tree saplings; foraging is the only source.
