3232 Gems are crafted into gear only at the Jewelery Table, which is unlocked after the Coastal Jungle boss Thomas Richards is defeated and can be extended with a Jeweler's Bench and a Jewelery Cabinet. Most Major-tier rings and necklaces upgrade through Sapphire or a Tumbaga Ingot, so a red stone like Ruby only matters for cards that specifically ask for a red gem. Universal cards accept any Rare gem.
