'Rustling behind the wall' in a jungle cave Smugglers' Cache hints that the cave system shares walls with Senkamati ruins, where Plague Hunters and similar light Plague creatures roam. The men are right to be afraid, even if the officer is unwilling to listen.

Like other lore items, the Officer's Notes carries no combat or crafting use. It exists to be read and kept. The high stack size of 20 means a full set of duplicates takes up only a single inventory slot, so there is no penalty for hauling spares back to a chest. Readers chasing the full Senkamati backstory will want to pair it with the warehouse and temple notes found across the other biomes.
