Initial Coastal Village page with approach, interior, and Thomas Richards context
Coastal Village is the hostile encampment in the Coastal Jungle biome that houses Thomas Richards, the first named boss on the main-story progression. The village is not a neutral trade hub; every NPC inside is hostile, and the central arena is where the Revenge Is Best Served Cold fight resolves. It is hidden behind a wooden fence on a peninsula in the Coastal Jungle and is not visible on the world map until the approach quest unlocks it.

The village does not appear on the map until the Black Marks collection reaches three of four. At that point the fourth Black Mark's recovery opens the Doctor Galen Skelton follow-up dialog that points to the Coastal Jungle peninsula. Sail to the marked coastline, beach the ship on the small cove, and push inland on foot. A wooden fence with a sliding gate hides the village's entrance; the gate is not locked, but the layout forces a specific approach corridor that funnels the player into the central fighting ground.
Pirate camp NPCs in the outer ring. The approach walk hits two or three squads of Coastal Jungle pirates, including a Grenadier variant and standard cutlass-and-pistol crew.
A central arena with raised stone blocks. The stone blocks are the geometry used during the Thomas Richards fight as LOS breakers against his thrown grenades.
Thomas Richards himself. He does not stand idle. The fight begins as soon as the player crosses the arena threshold, which is consistent with how other tier-1-to-5 boss fights open in the live build.
Loot chests along the outer ring. These spawn with gear-tier-appropriate rolls, usually including consumables, a small amount of Piastre, and occasionally a plan fragment.
The full encounter writeup lives on Thomas Richards and Revenge Is Best Served Cold. Briefly: Richards pairs a heavy two-handed axe moveset with thrown grenades and carries a poise guard that must be broken before reliable damage windows open. The arena is generous enough that attrition strategies work. In co-op, one player holds aggro while the rest of the group focuses poise and flank damage.
The village does not respawn Thomas Richards. Once defeated, the arena remains a safe scrap point where the corpses can be looted and the chests re-examined. The village NPCs generally do not respawn, which turns the location into a dead zone for repeat visits, although specific collectible-tracker updates may reintroduce scripted encounters later in the Early Access window.
