11 Ancient Foothills Key is a region-locked chest key in Windrose. The key is consumed when used and opens one Ancient chest at a time, and only in its matching biome. The Foothills key is the second-tier chest key, opening Ancient chests across the Foothills, the rolling hills inland from the Coastal Jungle.

89 Carry the Ancient Foothills Key into the Foothills and stand in front of any Ancient chest there. Interact with the chest to consume the key and open the lock. The chest then rolls its loot table, which can include Silver Ingots, region-specific resources, recipe papers, and a chance at higher-tier crafting blueprints.

1011 Region keys are biome-specific. A Foothills key cannot open a Swamp chest, so sort the inventory by destination before sailing.

1415 Drops from defeated enemies and looted chests across the Foothills, plus from world events and treasure caches scattered around the region. Stack size is 20, so a single inventory slot easily covers a full sweep of one biome before you have to drop the excess back at base.

Open chests during a single play session rather than letting keys sit between server restarts to avoid resetting the rolls.Carry a Shovel as well as keys. Some Ancient chests are buried under cairns and have to be dug out before the key prompt appears.If a key has a quest tag in the inventory, save it for the quest objective rather than spending it on a generic chest. Side quests sometimes consume the key as a turn-in instead.
