Official materials for Wild Wild Eden describe survivors of a ruined home planet starting over on an untamed world. The studio's co-founders have also described a central mystery about the world's rebirth, which reads differently from that premise. This page gives the two separately because the developers have not explained how they fit together.
Premise
The story section of the July 2026 press release begins: "Your home planet has suffered a catastrophic disaster, leaving it beyond recovery." The survivors leave in search of a new home and reach a planet untouched by civilization, full of resources and unusual lifeforms. To survive there, the player has to explore, craft and build bonds with the creatures that live on it, while starting a new life and uncovering the planet's secrets.
The Steam store page frames the setting differently. It asks the player to build a sanctuary alongside mysterious creatures, defend it from the hidden perils of the world, and join forces with companions to uncover the realm's ancient secrets.
The Player's Role
The store page casts the player as a tribal chief: "As a tribal chief, raise your monster friends, build a thriving base, and explore a harsh yet heartwarming world together." The Japanese descriptions of the official trailers say the same, describing the player as the chief of a tribe who raises the creatures and works with them to grow the base. The creatures themselves are called Aidons.
The Developers' Stated Theme
In their message in the July 2026 press release, the studio's co-founders described the game's central theme as a mystery about the world's rebirth. Their message says: "For centuries, we were taught that our home planet had been completely destroyed, forcing our ancestors to flee into the cold emptiness of space." After many generations, they write, people have finally returned, "Only to find that everything has changed."
The message goes on to ask whether the history people were taught was true and what really destroyed the home world. It says the survivors are not only trying to stay alive but want to reclaim what was lost and uncover secrets buried beneath the surface of the world.
How the Two Descriptions Differ
The premise is about leaving a ruined planet for a new one. The co-founders' theme is about returning to a home world that people were taught had been destroyed. As of October 2026, the developers have not explained how these fit together, and this wiki does not guess. Until more of the story is shown, the premise is the setup given by the store and press release, and the theme is the developers' own account of what the story is about.
At the 2023 Reveal
When the game was shown as PROJECT SURVIVAL in 2023, its concept video described a different mission: exploring an uncharted planet for resources in order to save the mother planet. The producer has since said the game changed greatly in both look and content, and current materials do not use that framing. See Development History.
Not Yet Revealed
As of October 2026, no story characters, factions, NPCs or region names have been announced, and there is no public build in which to check the story.
