The Paradox Curse

Survival in VOID DIVER: Escape from the Abyss extends beyond a single dive. Alongside the in-run pressures of stress and dwindling light, the game describes a class of lasting afflictions known as Paradoxes.
Paradoxes are described as dreadful curses that can linger even after an expedition ends. Rather than fading the moment you escape the dungeon, they persist with your operative, which makes them a longer-term concern than the pressures you face moment to moment underground.
Part of survival is finding cures for these Paradoxes. Because the curse carries over from a completed run, dealing with it becomes its own ongoing task between expeditions rather than something resolved in the heat of a dive.
The Paradox system sits within the wider survival layer of the game. It complements the immediate dangers of Stress and Madness, where mental pressure rises during a run, by adding consequences that outlast the run itself. Together they reinforce that escaping with your loot from Diving and Extraction is not always the end of the story; some of what the dungeon does to you follows you home.
Beyond the broad description above, specific details about how Paradoxes are inflicted, how many exist, and exactly how they are cured have not yet been confirmed, so this page will be expanded as more is shared.
