Overview

VOID DIVER: Escape from the Abyss is an extraction action RPG fused with a shop-management sim. You run an antique shop and command operatives who descend into a city-turned-dungeon to recover artifacts. This guide walks through how to try the game today and what to keep in mind on your first runs.
Try the Free Demo
You can play VOID DIVER right now through a free demo on Steam. The demo is a separate download from the full game and has been updated over time to add equipment, traits, bosses, and online co-op. For the demo's history and contents, see Demo.
Pick a Diver
The demo lets you choose between two playable Divers, each with a different combat style:
**Ga-young** is the melee-focused option. Her talisman-throwing skill can be turned into a basic attack, giving her some ranged flexibility.
**Raven** is the ranged option, built around a revolver for precise shots and a hidden Gatling gun for crowd control.
Try both to see which playstyle suits you. The studio is targeting roughly six to seven characters at official launch, so the roster is expected to grow.
Set a Build Before You Dive
Before entering the dungeon, you commit to a loadout. Each character has exclusive skill trees and traits, and you enter a run with a chosen skill-tree combination. Your character's proficiency determines how many traits you can activate. Spend a moment planning this, since you carry it into the dive. See Character Building for the full picture and Weapons and Gear for equipment.
Survive the Run
Two pressures define every descent:
Flashlight power is limited. Your light dwindles as you explore, acting as a soft timer. See Flashlight and Batteries.
Stress rises the longer you stay. Pushing your mind to its limit triggers strange phenomena, hallucinations, and loss of control. See Stress and Madness.
Inventory space is also capped, so you cannot carry everything. Recover what is most valuable and know when to leave.
Know When to Extract
The core risk of the game is simple: extract in time or lose what you collected. Failing to escape can mean walking away with nothing from a run. Watch your light and stress, and head for an exit before either runs out. The full loop is covered in Diving and Extraction and Gameplay Loop.
Grow the Shop
When you return, the artifacts you recovered feed the management side of the game. You can invest in BALUSHA Antique Shop between runs, customizing it, hiring staff, and dealing with high-value clients. Growing the shop is the long-term payoff that funds better dives.
Play Solo or Co-op
You can take on the dungeon alone as a lone wolf, or team up online with up to two other players for a group of three. The game is cooperative and player-versus-environment only. See Co-op and Multiplayer.
