Overview
Marrec is the Vice-Captain of the Kalbram Mercenaries in Vindictus: Defying Fate. He is stationed in Colhen at the Inn and acts as the day-to-day operational lead under Captain Aodhan. Where Aodhan handles strategy with quiet authority, Marrec is the unit's emotional center, the one who speaks loudest and pushes hardest when the situation calls for it.
He is a returning name from the original Vindictus, but Defying Fate is a reinterpretation. Marrec's role, design, and dialogue have been built fresh for this version of the story.
Personality
Marrec is passionate, outspoken, and quick-tempered. He has zero patience for protocol when it gets in the way of protecting people. His clashes with Dame Gwynn and the Royal Army's representatives are a recurring source of tension in Colhen, especially around questions of rank, command structure, and how to prioritize the village's defense.
He grew up alongside Tieve and Clodagh in Colhen. Those childhood bonds shape his priorities. He treats the village as home, not a posting, and resents the kingdom for abandoning it to bureaucratic neglect.
Role in the Story
Players interact with Marrec early and often. He is at the Inn when the player first arrives in Colhen, and he assigns or briefs many of the early missions. His narrative arc focuses on the friction between the mercenary group, which actually defends the village, and the Royal Army, which formally has jurisdiction but contributes little in practice.
Marrec is not a tactician. He is the voice that says what needs to be said in council meetings, and the one who pushes for action when others are hesitating. Aodhan provides the patience; Marrec provides the urgency.

Notes
Marrec appears in concept art and dev log NPC reveals shared by the official social channels.
His dialogue style leans confrontational rather than measured, which sets up many of the political tensions in the Colhen sections.
His original-game counterpart had a specific arc tied to the broader Fomor war. Whether Defying Fate retains, alters, or replaces that arc has not been fully clarified in public materials. Treat plot details that have not appeared in current build footage as unconfirmed.
