Guinevere

Created article for Guinevere from her first appearance in the first story trailer
Guinevere is a figure from Arthurian legend who appears in Tides of Annihilation, introduced in the first story trailer on 25 August 2026. The studio describes her as the legendary Guinevere and gives her one clear function in that trailer: she is the person who tells Gwendolyn what her power is and what to do with it.
The trailer, titled "Beneath the Veil", was shown during gamescom Opening Night Live. It finds Gwendolyn amid the ash of a ruined London, distraught and taking stock of what has happened to her. Guinevere is the figure she comes face to face with. She encourages Gwendolyn to harness the power of the fog, which the studio describes as a power only King Arthur once wielded, in order to save both London and Avalon from total annihilation. Gwendolyn takes up the sword afterwards, so the scene reads as the turn from survival to purpose.
That encounter is also how the game connects Gwendolyn to King Arthur. The studio's account is that she mysteriously inherits his mystical power, and Guinevere is the character who puts that inheritance into words.
Her appearance is recent and the material around it is thin, so most of the obvious questions are simply open. The studio has not said:
whether Guinevere appears beyond this one scene, or how large her part in the story is
whether she is among the summonable Spectral Knights, which would be unusual since that roster is built from the Knights of the Round Table
what her relationship is to King Arthur, to Sir Lancelot, or to any other figure in the game
whether she is living, spectral, a vision, or something else, and where the scene takes place
who voices her
This page records what the game has shown. Guinevere is one of the most heavily documented characters in Arthurian literature, and almost none of that material has been confirmed to apply here.
Her arrival is a small departure from how the studio had described its own casting. Earlier material stressed a preference for knights who rarely get the spotlight, naming Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere as the obvious defaults it was avoiding. The first story trailer used two of those three. The emphasis on lesser-known figures still holds across the wider roster, but it is a preference rather than a rule.
As with every other figure the game borrows, the name is not a promise about the story. Tides of Annihilation is an original work that reinterprets the mythos rather than retelling it, and the studio has been explicit that it is not following the source one to one. Mordred is the clearest illustration: a male traitor in the tradition, a female demi-god here. Nothing about the legend's Guinevere should be assumed to carry over. See Arthurian Legend in Tides of Annihilation for how the game handles the rest of the cycle.
