Quests and Events
August 18, 2026 at 06:26 AM
Initial version (2026-08-18)
Between boss fights, The Relic: First Guardian moves the player through named events and side quests scattered across Arsilthus. None of them have been documented in a published guide by the developers. What is known comes from post-launch patch notes, which name each quest, event and the villager attached to it while fixing whatever had gone wrong with it. That makes this page a partial map of the content rather than a walkthrough, and it grows with every update.
Events are the main non-combat progression layer. Completing narrative events during exploration rewards sealing stones, which in turn open hidden dungeons, so advancing is tied to what you find rather than to experience points. That loop is covered in more detail on the Relics and Runes System page. Events were also the system worst affected by the launch problems: large dungeons staying resident in memory stopped some event and boss triggers from firing at all, and the developers listed progression-blocking event fixes among the first improvements they shipped.
These events have been named in official patch notes. Most entries below record the fix rather than the content, because the fix is what has been published.
Event | What Is Known |
|---|---|
Plan of the Abyss | Could not be completed. Since Patch 12 both new and existing players complete it automatically on entering the garrison at Hillsbrad Castle, with no extra interaction needed |
The King's Awakening | Failed to trigger or progress correctly until Patch 9 |
The Unquenched Lantern | Received a new event presentation in Patch 10 and improved presentation and audio in Patch 11 |
The Day Silence Was Chosen | Received improved presentation and audio in Patch 11 |
Fang Forged in Hatred | Gated behind a sealing stone. Patch 10 closed an exploit that let players slide over rocks to enter without one |
Lost Fragments of Courage | A repeatable-acceptance bug let players take the event more than once, fixed in Patch 8 |
Swamp Lantern | Its marker did not work; verified and repaired in Patch 6 |
Checkpoint Karr | Arrows could damage the player from outside the walls during the event, fixed in Patch 9 |
Dunt | Doors stayed closed on re-entry after defeating Dunt, and the associated NPC could respawn. Both fixed in Patch 12 |
Chapter 1 Tailor sequence | Received enhanced lighting and atmospheric effects in Patch 6 |
Three side quests have been named, each tied to a specific villager. Patch 11 fixed all three in one pass, which is the only reason their names are public.
Quest | Villager | What Is Known |
|---|---|---|
Valuable Supplies | Mairi | The quest marker for Mairi could go missing. Returning to her reactivates it, either on approach or when the quest log updates after speaking to her without supplies |
What Could Not Be Left Behind | Marek | Rewards were not granted on completion. Players who missed theirs can return to Marek to collect |
Unresolved Curiosity | Cullen | The marker stayed active after the quest was finished. Returning to Cullen now clears it. Cullen also had his behaviour tree repaired in Patch 10 |
One more character is named in the patch notes without an attached quest: Alyssa, met at a cliff edge in Chapter 3. Patch 9 added invisible walls blocking the path through that part of the chapter until the meeting happens, which suggests she is a story gate rather than an optional encounter.
Field pages, also called lore pages, are the collectible layer that carries much of the written story. Reading one plays its voice-over, and a change made in response to player feedback now pauses the game while it plays instead of leaving you exposed. Collecting every field page generates bookmarks, a completion reward that was not working until Patch 10. Since Patch 12 field pages can be read while combat mode is active, so lore no longer has to wait until a fight is fully over.
Sealing stones open dungeons that are not on the main path. They are treated as a distinct content type in the game itself: since Patch 12 the map lists sealing stone dungeons as their own marker category, separate from ordinary dungeons, boss locations and villages. The paid add-on supplies one named example, the Sealstone of the Undying Ember, which opens the Sanctuary of the Forgotten Light. A second was announced on 17 August 2026 for players who bought the game before 26 August, opening a dungeon with its own storyline and boss fight. Both are covered on the Editions and Pre-Order Bonus page.
An in-game Status Board records how many bosses have been put down. It miscounted when the player faced two or more bosses at once until Patch 11, which also made existing saves refresh the count correctly on load. Alongside the map markers added through Patch 12, it is the closest thing the game offers to a completion checklist. Individual patch entries are listed on the Updates and Patches page.
