Tears of Metal has 89 achievements on Steam. The Microsoft Store version carries its own achievement set, listed among the product's capabilities alongside cloud saves and cross-platform play. Paper Cult has not published the full list or the unlock conditions, so what follows is what the storefront and the patch notes make visible.
Named Achievements
Ten achievements are surfaced on the store listing itself. The names give a reasonable sense of what the set rewards: raw kill volume, specific boss kills, and deliberately awkward defensive play.
Achievement | Suggested By The Name |
|---|---|
Butcher | Kill volume |
Witch Hunter | Defeating a specific enemy or boss type |
Dragonslayer | A dragon kill, most likely Harold |
Shieldwright's Best Friend | Blocking or shield use |
Vengeful Spirit | Likely tied to the Banshee |
Wall of One | Holding a position alone |
Blocker Extraordinaire | Sustained blocking |
Frivolous | Not indicated |
Rock Smasher | Likely tied to Dragonstone or to Ruadh Stonecrusher |
Devastator | Damage output |
The mapping in the second column is inference from the names, not published unlock criteria. Treat it as a hint, not a guide.
Known Achievement Categories
Patch notes reveal a few more of the set's shapes without naming them outright. There is a series of Finish Act X without opening a chest achievements, one per Act, which was miscounting actions other than opening chests until July 24, 2026. Another requires starting and finishing an Act boss battle at 10% health or less. A Charm unlock requires maintaining a Combo Chain for 20 seconds.
Post-Launch Fixes
Several achievements and unlocks were impossible to obtain in the launch build and were repaired on July 24, 2026. The 20-second Combo Chain Charm could not be unlocked at all, the Tithing Box could not be unlocked, the chestless-Act achievements tracked the wrong actions, the low-health boss achievement did not fire, and a Special Challenge called Infestation could be completed by standing still for 20 seconds. A related fix stopped the Large Reliquary granting another copy of itself. Anyone who played the first days should expect a few of these to have unlocked retroactively rather than needing a fresh attempt.
The Castle Records screen, which tracks unlocked content, needed its own run of fixes across the July 28 and July 31 patches before it displayed unlocked Charms correctly. See Update History for the full sequence.
