Its literary weight comes from a Western Han text containing the line about brewing tea, cleaning the vessels and buying tea at Wuyang, which is the earliest written record of tea anywhere in Chinese history. Attaching that name to a tea-house servant who fights with a teapot ties the character to the origin of the drink itself.
