There is no native macOS or Linux build. Firefly has addressed the question directly, saying the game was developed for the Windows platform and that it does not officially support macOS, virtual machines, or translation layers. The studio says no development time has so far been allocated to making the game run on another platform, and that while it may look at compatibility improvements during early access, this is not a priority for it at present. On Linux, early hands-on reports indicate the game runs through Proton, though Firefly has not announced official Linux support.
These requirements cover the build available during early access and may change before the full release. Firefly expects to spend around six months in early access before version 1.0.
Platform Features and Accessibility
The store listing sets out what the game supports beyond raw hardware. Stronghold 4 is listed as single-player at launch, with Steam Achievements, Steam Trading Cards, Steam Cloud saves, and Family Sharing. The listing also flags a set of accessibility options: adjustable difficulty, a mouse-only control option, play without timed input, save anytime, camera comfort settings, custom volume controls, and stereo sound. The separate listing for the demo adds adjustable text size and subtitle options, and lists a level editor.
Feature | Status |
|---|---|
Players | Single-player at launch; online multiplayer is planned for after early access |
Achievements | Listed |
Trading cards | Listed |
Cloud saves | Listed |
Family sharing | Listed |
Level editor | Listed on the demo's feature set; not yet detailed |
Accessibility | Adjustable difficulty, mouse-only option, no timed input required, save anytime, camera comfort, custom volume, stereo sound |
Text support is broad. The game is listed with interface and subtitles in seventeen languages, while full voice audio is limited to English, German, and Polish. Firefly has said the localisation and voice recording schedules for the launch window are already locked in, so no further languages or full audio dubs are being added to the pipeline before release.
