Created character guide for Regis with gift preferences and friendship info
Regis is a non-romanceable NPC and longtime resident of Starsand Island. While he cannot be romanced, you can still build a friendship with him by giving gifts and talking to him daily. Regis has distinct tastes, favoring hearty cooked dishes and disliking certain raw materials and fishing bait. Building friendship with non-romanceable NPCs contributes to your overall social standing on the island and unlocks additional dialogue and interactions.
Each NPC in Starsand Island can receive one gift per day. Giving a loved gift earns 15 Affection Points, a liked gift earns 10 points, and a neutral gift earns 5 points. Disliked and hated gifts earn no points (or may reduce affection). Regis has a strong preference for cooked meals and certain flowers.
Regis responds best to cooked dishes. These are his confirmed favorites:

Moonflower is a safe fallback gift. Almost every NPC on the island likes or loves Moonflower, and Regis is no exception. If you do not have a cooked dish ready, a Moonflower is your next best option.

Avoid giving Regis any bugs, fishing bait, or raw ores. These are common items that players might try to gift, but they consistently produce negative reactions.
Friendship with non-romanceable NPCs works on the same Heart Level system as romanceable characters, though the maximum relationship level and available milestones differ. You cannot reach cohabitation (Heart Level 5) with non-romanceable NPCs, but you can still unlock new dialogue, interactions, and occasional gifts from them as your friendship grows.
The most efficient daily routine for building friendship with Regis is:
Talk to him once per day (+5 Affection)
Give him a loved gift like Plain Noodles or Grilled Chicken Wings (+15 Affection)
Complete any bulletin board requests he may post (+15 to +30 Affection)
At +20 points per day from talking and gifting, you can reach Heart Level 3 (370 points) in about 19 days.
Regis is one of 12 non-romanceable characters on Starsand Island, alongside Bruce, Charlene, Fang, Garrick, Ginger, Gust, Hattie, Marston, Matilda, Momo, Nia, and Sagewood.
His gift preferences lean heavily toward cooked food, making him one of the best NPCs to befriend if you enjoy the cooking system.
Like most NPCs, Regis hates Glazed Cicada. This bug item is almost universally disliked across the island.
