Rewrote the Tokyo Game Show section in the past tense: the September 19 Special Stage and its archived recording, the fifty-minute guest playthrough, the typhoon cancellation of the September 21 show day, and the paid booth shirt
SILENT HILL: Townfall has been shown at broadcast showcases and at three conventions in the run-up to its September 24, 2026 release. This page collects the schedule and what each appearance actually consisted of. The wider project timeline is on Development History.
Date | Event | What was shown |
|---|---|---|
February 12, 2026 | State of Play, with a SILENT HILL Transmission broadcast | The full reveal trailer, the first look at first-person gameplay and at the CRTV |
June 2, 2026 | State of Play | The release date, Zoe revealed, and pre-orders opened |
August 25, 2026 | Summer showcase | The Cast Reveal Trailer, the English voice cast, and Richard named for the first time |
September 3, 2026 | KONAMI PRESS START | Producer Motoi Okamoto presented new detail, video messages from the three cast members aired, and the Japanese voice cast was announced. Writer and director Jon McKellan spoke about the story and characters |
The game shared the PRESS START broadcast with several other Konami titles. Only the Townfall segment is covered here.
Konami exhibited in Cologne from August 26 to 30, 2026, in Hall 07.1, Stand A021 to B020. Press played the game on the show floor in sessions of roughly ninety minutes, and Konami had announced an immersive interactive experience at the booth in advance.
Konami published no description of that attraction's format and no first-hand account of going through it has appeared, so what it contained is not recorded here. It was not described by Konami as a theater, and the equivalent attractions at the two later shows should not be read backwards onto it.
One piece of Konami's own gamescom copy does describe hands-on play, inviting visitors to be among the first to try the game. That sits awkwardly with the walk-through format the two later shows used and with the absence of any public-demo tag on Konami's own Tokyo Game Show listing. Nothing settles it either way, so the gamescom attraction is left undescribed here rather than assumed to match either reading.
September 4 to 7, 2026, at the Seattle Convention Center. Konami's own description of the booth is concrete: the space recreated the Scottish coastal town of St. Amelia and featured a special interactive experience in which visitors deciphered clues about the game. Visitors received an exclusive item, and the game had a live panel on the main stage.
An attendee account published the following week describes what the space actually was: a walk-through built to put visitors inside St. Amelia, with a full backdrop, props and locations, and a working phone booth from which visitors could call some of the characters. Video devices and radios placed around the set played dialogue and clips from the game. The art director was at the booth and spoke about wanting the town to feel distinct while still belonging to the series.
The phone booth is not a piece of set dressing invented for the show. Phone booths are where the game saves and where numbers can be dialled, covered on Map and Saving.
Makuhari Messe, with Konami's public-day programme scheduled for September 19 to 21, 2026. It was the last scheduled event before launch, and it ended a day early: Konami's show site states that the September 21 show day was cancelled because of a typhoon and that the streams planned for that day were rescheduled. The Townfall stage on the 19th was unaffected, but the booth and its novelties ran on the 19th and 20th only.
Element | Detail |
|---|---|
Exhibit | The SILENT HILL: Townfall TGS Immersive Theater, described by Konami as a special theater where visitors experience the world of the game ahead of release |
Playable demo | None. Konami tags the title for streaming and exhibition only, while other titles at the same booth are tagged as playable |
Special Stage | Held on September 19, 14:30 to 16:00 Japan time. A talk session with series producer Motoi Okamoto, hosted by Kei Yamaguchi, followed by live gameplay commentary from a guest, billed by Konami as the first such playthrough in Japan. Archived as a standalone recording of about one hour thirty-eight minutes on the SILENT HILL channel the same day |
Booth novelty | A replica of the medical wristband Simon wears, given to visitors who go through the booth experience, in limited quantities |
Pre-purchase novelty | An original T-shirt for anyone who pre-purchased the Deluxe Edition, checked against the purchase confirmation email at a desk beside the Townfall corner. One per person, public days only, limited daily quantities. The booth shop separately sold an official Townfall T-shirt in three sizes at 5,500 yen |
The T-shirt campaign accepts a Deluxe pre-purchase made on PlayStation Store, Steam or the Epic Games Store, and Konami lists the confirmation email it checks for each. Edition contents are on Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses.
Okamoto opened the stage by introducing the game, describing St. Amelia as modelled on a real Scottish town and built so that a realistic townscape sits inside an unreal situation, and summarising the play as a switch between melee and firearms, hiding in storerooms and closets to let creatures pass, and using sound to draw them away. He described the Otherworld as a red-stained world strung with countless pipes, which matches the wording of the producer and director's own September 16 post.
The guest, a streamer known for horror games, then played for roughly fifty minutes. The session was the first time the Japanese voice cast had been heard in public outside the trailer shown at the venue, and it covered the town, the CRTV being used to work through a section, and combat and stealth encounters that gave the guest trouble. Okamoto added asides during play, including that a machine used in one of the puzzles is a real device that existed in 1990s Scotland. What was shown is a pre-release build played on stage, so nothing from it is recorded elsewhere on this wiki as a confirmed mechanic unless it was already published.
Press have played the game in two waves, both covering the opening of the game only and both on a pre-release build. The first ran in July 2026 in sessions of roughly three to four hours, followed by developer roundtables. The second ran at gamescom in sessions of about ninety minutes, written up between late August and early September 2026. The build was characterised as near final.
The public booth attractions and the press sessions are separate things and should not be confused. Nothing shown to the public at any of the three conventions was a playable demo.
