Updated the Voyage server-crash note with the September 2026 fix and added the developers' own description of Storm Dive
11SAND: Raiders of Sophie ships its Early Access launch with two ways to play expeditions, plus a separate build mode for designing your machine. The two expedition modes share the same scavenge-and-extract loop but differ in stakes and how a run ends.2233Voyage44556-Voyage is the lower-stakes, persistent open-world mode. It is the place to test Trampler builds and scavenge lower-tier items at your own pace. Voyage runs have no time limit: you decide when you have gathered enough and when to head back to an extraction point. There is no countdown forcing you off the surface, so it suits learning the map, experimenting with loadouts, and steadier resource gathering. Note: at launch the developers flagged a memory-related crash affecting Voyage servers and advised avoiding the mode until a fix shipped; they worked through the underlying server stability in the updates that followed over the opening weeks of Early Access.6+Voyage is the lower-stakes, persistent open-world mode. Note: at launch the developers flagged a memory-related crash affecting Voyage servers and advised avoiding the mode until a fix shipped, and they worked through the underlying server stability in the updates that followed. The September 10, 2026 update then fixed what they called one of the main reasons Voyage servers had been crashing over time, a build-up of game objects and colliders that pushed up memory use and the physics engine's workload, a fault that fits a persistent mode where servers run for long stretches.7788Storm Dive991010Storm Dive is the high-action mode built around confrontation and higher-tier rewards. A sandstorm slowly engulfs the region during the run, and you are limited by the time it takes that storm to reach the center of the map. You can extract at any point before the storm closes in. As the playable area shrinks, encounters with other scavengers and the risk of losing your loot and your Trampler both climb. Storm Dive is where the better loot lives and where most of the player-versus-player pressure happens.111112+The developers' own shorthand for the mode is battle royale-style, which is a fair description of the shrinking circle even though the goal is still to leave with loot rather than to be the last crew standing. Storm Dive is also where the Threat marking added in September 2026 bites hardest, since a crew that racks up kills inside a closing ring is advertised to everyone left in it. See Gameplay for the marking rules.13+1214Mode Comparison13151416ModeStakesRun LengthLoot TierVoyageLowerNo time limit; extract when you chooseLower-tier itemsStorm DiveHigherLimited by the sandstorm reaching map center; extract any time beforeHigher-tier loot and rewards1517Trampler Editor16181719The third pillar at launch is the Trampler Editor, a dedicated build space where you construct a Trampler from scratch out of a variety of components before you deploy. It is not an expedition mode, but it is where every run effectively begins, since the machine you bring shapes how you play both Voyage and Storm Dive.18201921Extraction in Both Modes20222123Whichever mode you choose, a run only pays out if you reach an extraction point and escape to the orbital station with your Trampler and loot intact. Dying on the surface risks the loot you were carrying, though saved blueprints mean a destroyed Trampler can be rebuilt. See Gameplay for the full loop and Getting Started for a new-player walkthrough.
