Overview

Substitute Doll is a paintable Toy in Pokemon Pokopia that triggers Drifloon to transport Ditto to a random Dream Island when placed and inspected. Unlike specific dolls (like the Clefairy Doll for Rock Peak Dream Island or Arcanine Doll for Volcanic Dream Island), the Substitute Doll selects a random destination from the available Dream Islands.

In-game description: "If you set this down and inspect it, Drifloon may fly over and whisk you away to a Dream Island."

The Substitute Doll can be found as buried treasure in all five Pokopia regions:

• Withered Wasteland

• Bleak Beach

• Rocky Ridges

• Sparkling Skylands

• Palette Town

Use the Dowsing Machine with a Search-specialty Pokemon to detect buried Substitute Dolls.

Palette Town Shop

Once Palette Town reaches Environment Level 7, the Substitute Doll becomes available for direct purchase from the Palette Town Shop. This is the most reliable way to stockpile copies for repeated Dream Island runs.

Function

Place the Substitute Doll in the world and interact with it. Drifloon flies over and offers to take Ditto to a Dream Island. Unlike specific Pokemon dolls (which always send you to a specific Dream Island type), the Substitute Doll randomly selects from your available Dream Island pool. This is useful for:

• Discovering Dream Islands you have not yet visited

• Keeping daily Dream Island visits varied without committing to a specific destination

• Players who do not yet own all the specific Pokemon dolls

Tips

• Treat the Substitute Doll as a wildcard Dream Island visit. If you want a specific destination (like Rock Peak for crystal farming during the Sableye event), use the corresponding specific doll instead.

• Buy multiple Substitute Dolls from the Palette Town shop once unlocked. Each visit consumes the doll, so a stockpile is useful.

• The 1,000 Life Coin (favorite: 1,500) trade value makes the Substitute Doll a high-value barter item if you have surplus stock.

• Use Dowsing Machine treasure runs to find Substitute Dolls early-game, before the Palette Town shop unlocks.
