Initial Lost Relics and Fossils guide
Lost Relics and Fossils are collectible items found inside glowing blocks scattered throughout the world. The appraisal and collection system involves two unique Pokemon with exclusive specialties: Professor Tangrowth (Appraise) and Gimmighoul (Collect).
Lost Relics are found by breaking glowing blocks with Rock Smash or other destructive moves. There are two categories:
Type | Total Count | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Small Relics | 46 | More common; found in most areas |
Large Relics | 37 | Rarer; often in harder-to-reach locations |
Relics drop randomly from glowing blocks, so there is an element of luck involved in completing the collection. Lucky days (roughly every 7 in-game days) feature increased glowing block spawn rates.
Find a Lost Relic in a glowing block.
Bring it to Professor Tangrowth (the only Pokemon with the Appraise specialty).
Tangrowth identifies the relic and reveals what it is.
Take the appraised relic to Gimmighoul (the only Pokemon with the Collect specialty, found in Rocky Ridges near the Museum).
Gimmighoul exchanges the appraised relic for a unique furniture item.
Fossils are a separate category of collectible found inside treasure blocks and glowing blocks. Some fossil Pokemon require a single fossil piece, while others need multiple pieces assembled together. Bring fossils to the Rocky Ridges Museum (Pewter City Museum reference) to restore prehistoric Pokemon. Building the corresponding habitat for restored fossil Pokemon attracts them to your world.
Use Pokemon with the Search specialty (Pidgey, Paras, Venonat, Growlithe) to locate hidden glowing blocks and relics.
Visit Dream Islands for additional glowing block spawns.
Adjust the Switch 2 clock to trigger lucky days for increased spawn rates.
Check behind structures, under bridges, and in elevated areas for hidden blocks.
