11The Zoopedia is the in-game reference that documents every animal in Planet Zoo 2. Unusually for an in-game encyclopaedia, Frontier published it on the official website ahead of launch and has been filling it in publicly, one batch of species at a time, since 23 June 2026. It doubles as the game pre-launch animal reveal programme and as the reference players will use in game.22Each entry covers the animal appearance and build, its size and weight by sex, taxonomy down to genus, wild population, conservation status and the threats behind it, its social structure and reproductive behaviour, and a short set of real-world facts. Every page carries a standing note that Planet Zoo 2 is in active development and that the text, images, and statistics in the Zoopedia are not necessarily final.44Reveal Cadence66New species arrive in weekly drops, usually eight at a time, with occasional single additions attached to an Animal Spotlight video. As of 13 September 2026 the Zoopedia lists 102 animals, 96 of them in the base game and 6 bundled with the Deluxe Edition described under Editions and Pre-Orders. It names the class, order, family, and genus, the biomes and continents the species belongs to, which enclosure types it can live in, whether it shoals, whether it has a habitat camera, and the barrier specification a habitat needs in order to hold it. Those barrier values are collected under Habitat Requirements.3030Data Quality3232Because the Zoopedia is being written in public while the game is still in development, individual fields can disagree with each other. The index card for a species and its detail page are separate surfaces, and where they conflict the detail page carries the corrected value. Treat the detail page as the authority for taxonomy and statistics.3434Live Cameras3636Three catalogued species carry a habitat camera flag in the Zoopedia data: the African Penguin, the Sumatran Tiger, and the White-Tailed Sea-Eagle. Frontier has not published how habitat cameras work in game beyond their presence in the animal data.
