The Swordsman Captain is a quest giver at the Outpost in Weeping Creek Valley in Phantom Blade Zero. He starts Festering Secret, a letter-delivery Tale that also connects to the Four Fierce Axes investigation.

Location

Find him west of the Outpost Bell, seated on a wooden beam with two guards nearby. Speak to him to receive the letter for the lieutenant at Long Pillar Overlook. He is described as missable, so take the request before moving the main story much farther; an exact cutoff is not established here.

Deliver the letter

Travel northeast to Long Pillar Overlook and enter the damaged house. Give the letter to the seated swordsman inside, then bring his response back to the captain at the Outpost. Returning the message completes Festering Secret.

Rewards and related investigation

The captain's direct quest reward is listed as none. The delivery is still relevant to Four Fierce Axes because the exchange provides Gu Lingran's Letter, one of the case files needed for that longer investigation. Do not confuse the absence of a separate captain reward with the absence of an investigation item.
