Story

Setting

Phantom Blade Zero takes place in the Phantom World, a universe based on China during the Ming dynasty. The setting blends wuxia with steampunk, cyberpunk, dark fantasy, and horror elements.

The director has termed this distinctive aesthetic as kungfupunk - a style that combines traditional kung fu with futuristic technology.

The game features character-action-style combat heavily inspired by the Golden Age of Hong Kong martial arts cinema. Unlike Soulslike games, Phantom Blade Zero focuses on spectacle-oriented action similar to Devil May Cry.
