Nova Teams

Initial version (2026-04-28)
Nova teams in Neverness to Everness build around the Nova duo reaction, which pairs Chaos and Psyche on the Esper Cycle wheel. Nova attaches a delayed burst-damage mark to the target, exploding after a brief window for high single-target damage. The mark's delay creates a planning beat: players can swap characters and chain other reactions before the burst lands.
Most Nova-focused builds end up overlapping with Discord since Nova is one of the two duos that feed the trio. Pure Nova teams are valid, but at launch the most efficient way to use Nova is as half of a Discord setup. The pages overlap by design: every Discord team is also a Nova team running Scorch alongside it.
The duo trigger has three steps:
A Chaos-element attack lands on the target.
A Psyche-element attack hits the same target within the reaction window.
Nova activates, attaching a delayed burst-damage mark to the enemy.
After the delay, the mark detonates and deals burst Psyche-flavored damage.
The intentional delay between application and detonation is what differentiates Nova from straight burst skills. Players can use the delay window to set up other reactions, swap characters, or position for the next attack. In Discord teams, the standard play is to land Nova, then apply Scorch in the same window so both reactions are active when Discord triggers.
Role | Best Fits | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Chaos DPS | Daffodil's break-focused kit pairs well with Nova's setup window. Lacrimosa adds sustained Chaos damage off-field. | |
Psyche Support | Provides the Psyche half. Fadia amplifies Nova through her kit; Haniel is the free F2P pick. | |
Sub-DPS / Buffer | Adds buffs and shielding while the team waits for Nova to detonate. | |
Flex Slot | On-field damage during the Nova window. Nanally's follow-up attacks compound the burst. |
A pure Nova team focuses on stacking Nova marks for repeated burst windows. This works against single targets and is forgiving since it only requires two elements (Chaos and Psyche). However, a hybrid Nova-Scorch team that activates Discord delivers significantly more damage by adding break-bar shred to the burst. Most launch tier lists treat Nova as a setup tool inside Discord rather than its own archetype.
Players who want to specialize in pure Nova builds should pair Daffodil with Fadia and Haniel, layering Nova marks repeatedly to maintain delayed burst pressure. The flex slot fills with whichever utility character solves the team's biggest problem.
Use the Nova delay productively. Swap characters or apply Scorch during the delay window; idle time before detonation is wasted potential.
Land Nova on the highest-priority target. Single-target burst is what Nova does best; spread-out applications dilute the value.
Pair with Discord whenever possible. Adding Scorch to the rotation transforms Nova damage into Discord break shred plus Nova burst.
Refresh Nova regularly. Repeated marks mean repeated burst detonations, especially valuable against bosses with long health bars.
Position carefully. Some Nova detonations have a small AoE; positioning the active character outside that AoE prevents wasted self-damage in mixed encounters.
Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|
Strong single-target burst with planning windows | Damage is delayed; less responsive than direct hits |
Easily extends into Discord trio | Pure Nova teams are weaker than Discord hybrids |
Only two elements required; flexible team building | Limited Psyche roster at launch |
Daffodil's break kit pairs naturally with Nova marks | Mixed-element teams miss Nova's amplified value |
