Hethereau is the primary setting of Neverness to Everness - a vast, futuristic urban metropolis where humans coexist with supernatural anomalies. The city is rendered using Unreal Engine 5, featuring a seamless open world with cyberpunk-inspired aesthetics, dazzling neon signs, and brightly illuminated streets.
Hethereau contains four currently known regions: Bridge Crossing (also known as the Bridge District), Miguel District, New Herland District, and Unheard Shores. The city has been expanded to 1.5x larger than its original size during the Containment Test, with Miguel and New Herland being newer additions.
The Bridge District is home to the Eibon antique shop and is where the Coluccis family, one of the most renowned families in the city, operates. It serves as the starting area for players and features a more rustic, established atmosphere.
The Miguel District is a traveler's retreat where the city's grandest natural beauty meets its tallest landmark. It's the ultimate weekend hotspot for locals and visitors alike.
Key features include the iconic Hethereau Skytower, the shimmering Caltrop Lake, and the bustling Noetic Bridge shopping scene. It's described as a lush tourist paradise featuring Hethereau's largest natural scenic belt.
The dazzling New Herland District features towering skyscrapers that pierce the sky. It's Hethereau's glittering crown jewel - a wealth-soaked hub that draws the elite, the ambitious, and the ultra-rich.
New Herland is the core of wealth in Hethereau, where renowned enterprises gather and elites converge. It's not merely a base for the city's wealthiest magnates but also the birthplace of the city's fiercest market for Anomaly Hunters.
The city features numerous important locations including the Bureau of Anomaly Control headquarters, the Eibon antique shop, and various Anomaly Dungeons. Notable large-scale dungeons include The Bank and The Hospital, designed for cooperative multiplayer.
Hethereau has an extensive train network and various public transportation options for getting around the city quickly.
Life in Hethereau is a unique blend of the mundane and the supernatural. In the Bureau of Anomaly Control hall, hopeful Oddities queue up for their resident permits, while at the train station, an Esper commuter snaps his fingers to clean his work suit.
The streets might feature a chaotic chase after supernatural creatures on one side while a Butler chats with a shop owner on the other. Residents can engage in various activities including buying and modifying sports cars, racing, purchasing homes, fishing, playing Mahjong, and working part-time jobs.
Day and night cycles with dynamic weather systems can transform the city into a surreal, creepy world in real-time when supernatural events occur.
