Crime and Wanted System
March 6, 2026 at 05:30 AM
Expanded with detailed prison gameplay, breakout mechanics, and bail system
The crime and wanted system in Neverness to Everness governs the consequences of illegal activities within Hethereau. Players who commit crimes such as attacking passers-by, stealing vehicles, damaging property, or driving dangerously draw the attention of law enforcement. The system adds a GTA-inspired layer of open-world freedom and consequences to the supernatural urban setting.
The following actions increase the player's wanted level:
Attacking civilians or NPCs on the street
Stealing vehicles (vehicle requisition)
Damaging public or private property
Dangerous driving (speeding through pedestrian areas, collisions)
Destruction of vehicles
The wanted system uses a star-based rating similar to other open-world crime games:
Level | Response |
|---|---|
Low (1-2 stars) | Local police begin pursuit. Can be evaded relatively easily by driving away or hiding. |
Medium (3-4 stars) | More aggressive police response with additional units. Harder to evade. |
High (5+ stars) | Serious law enforcement forces deploy. Extremely difficult to escape. |
If the police successfully capture the player, they are sent to the detention center. Upon arrival, the player character changes into a prison robe and must spend several in-game days behind bars. Players have two options:
Serve the sentence: Complete prison activities until the sentence expires.
Attempt a breakout: Try to escape the detention center through stealth and resourcefulness.
The prison experience includes multiple activities and mini-games:
Wall cleaning: Scrub dirt off prison walls in a cleaning mini-game reminiscent of PowerWash Simulator.
Dining hall: Visit the prison dining room for meals.
Escape planning: Steal a spoon and attempt to dig a tunnel. Players must avoid detection by guards.
Trading: Trade items with other prisoners.
Medical visits: Visit the prison doctor.
For players who do not want to spend time in prison, an early release option through bail is available. Paying bail allows the player to leave the detention center immediately, but at a financial cost.
The wanted system adds fun chaos but can be inconvenient if triggered accidentally; be mindful of your driving.
Prison breakout attempts are entertaining mini-games, but bail is faster if you want to get back to action quickly.
Wanted levels decay over time if you avoid further criminal activity.
Some City Commissions involve crime solving, where the player is on the law enforcement side of the equation.
