Monetisation
September 12, 2026 at 12:58 AM
Initial version (2026-09-11)
Nodusfall is free to play. That, and the way characters are obtained, are the two things the development team has put on the record. Everything else about how the game takes money is either explicitly under consideration or has not been addressed at all, and this page is careful about the difference.
Point | Status as of September 11, 2026 |
|---|---|
Base game price | Free to play. The developer FAQ of August 28, 2026 states it plainly, and the English developer statement issued around the reveal says the game "will be a free-to-play, long-term game" |
Character acquisition | Not through random draws. The stated design is that characters are unlocked by continuing to play |
Paid layer | Appearance items are described as an important paid element the team is considering, with details deferred to a later announcement |
In-game payments | A top-up system is described in the Chinese age-suitability notice, which sets out the statutory spending caps for verified minors |
Framing | The team describes the game as a long-term title |
The confirmed statement covers one thing: how characters are obtained. It does not say the game contains no random-draw systems, and no first-party source has ruled any out. Nodusfall should not be described as free of random draws, and no article here will say so until something first-party addresses it.
The same caution applies in the other direction. The paid cosmetics line is phrased as a consideration rather than a commitment, and the team explicitly said more detail would follow. Treating it as a settled business model would be reading past what was said.
The suitability notice on the Chinese official site describes a real-name verification system and the spending limits that apply to verified minors. These are the statutory caps in mainland China rather than anything specific to this game, but their presence confirms that the Chinese build will take payments.
Verified player age | Limit per top-up | Monthly cumulative limit |
|---|---|---|
Under 8 | Cannot top up | Cannot top up |
8 to 15 | 50 RMB | 200 RMB |
16 to 17 | 100 RMB | 400 RMB |
The same notice limits minors to one hour of play on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, between 20:00 and 21:00. All of this describes the Chinese operation specifically. See China Release and Testing.
In the press demo on August 26, 2026, characters could be customised with different outfits, hairstyles, hair colours and accessories, and the mount could be changed as well. Nothing states that any of these were, or will be, the paid items. They are recorded here only because the customisation surface the cosmetics line would attach to demonstrably exists.
As of September 11, 2026, none of the following has been stated anywhere first-party.
Any price, currency name, bundle or shop structure.
Whether a battle pass or subscription exists.
Whether any random-draw system exists for anything other than characters.
Whether weapons, relics or Divine Skills can be bought.
Whether monetisation differs between the global and Chinese operations.
