11Monster Hunter Outlanders is a hunting action RPG rebuilt for touchscreens. First-party descriptions have used several labels for it, including open-world survival game, survival hunting action game and exploration hunting action game, and all of them point at the same shape: explore a connected world, read the wildlife, hunt large monsters, carve what you kill, and turn those materials into better equipment. What follows covers only systems the game itself has shown.2233Mobile-First Controls4455The control scheme is the single largest departure from a console hunt. Official material states that combo moves can be executed with a single button press, so that a chain which would normally require a sequence of timed inputs is condensed into one tap. The stated goal is to keep the feel of a hunt intact while removing the input overhead that a phone cannot comfortably carry. Each weapon type layers its own follow-up moves on top of that base, and those follow-ups are described as new to this game rather than carried over.667+78Two defensive actions recur across the Weapons roster and appear to be shared systems rather than per-weapon quirks. A Perfect Evade is a well-timed dodge available to every Adventurer, and depending on the weapon it can preserve a charge, grant a movement option, or open a counter. A Perfect Guard is a well-timed block, and on at least one weapon it triggers an instant reload. Both reward reading a monster's tell rather than mashing. After being knocked off balance, tapping Evade performs a quick recovery.89910Official material also describes clearer visual cues for monster attacks, special mechanics and precision moves, and a part lock-on system: swiping on a radial menu focuses attacks on a monster's weak points.10111112Adventurers and Classes12131314Playable characters are called Adventurers. Each named Adventurer is locked to one weapon type, while the player's own Fated Adventurer is proficient with several, and every Adventurer belongs to one of three classes: Assault, Support or Disruptor. Characters met through the story can become allies and can then be controlled directly, so the roster grows as the campaign does. Each Adventurer also brings skills of their own, which is where the mechanical differences between two characters sharing a weapon type come from.14151516Every Adventurer travels with a buddy. Three buddy types have been revealed, and they carry the same class labels as Adventurers do, which suggests buddies slot into a party alongside the characters rather than sitting outside the combat system.16171718Exploration and Building18191920Aesoland is described as divided into several areas according to terrain and weather, with fields seamlessly connected. Forests, swamps and deserts have all been named. Exploration is not purely traversal: players chop trees and mine ore for materials, and the building system turns them into field facilities such as the Catapult, the Wind Platform and the Zip Line. Those facilities change how a region can be approached, and official material states that using them can surface special items and clues connected to an assignment.20212122Wildlife observation is presented as a mechanic. Watching how monsters hunt, taunt and interact with one another is described as knowledge that can be turned into an advantage during a hunt, which fits the environmental-clue framing of the Hunting Loop.22232324All kinds of monsters appear on the world map at the same time and can be hunted at any point. As the adventure progresses, each field's Ecological Rank rises and its monsters grow stronger. The world map also carries expeditions, short side activities to take on between hunts. Three were described for the first closed beta.24252526ExpeditionWhat it involvesZen Stone BalanceAdjust the position and angle of stones to stack them to a target heightWinged Treasure HuntTap the button when the circles align to wear down a wyvern's staminaEgg Heist ChallengeHide in the grass to avoid monsters and carry eggs to the goal27+2628The same material lists an Arena, activities that require teamwork, and high-difficulty quests against stronger monsters. Aesoland is also home to endemic creatures, which can be found and captured to complete research objectives.27292830Crafting29313032Materials gathered in the field and carved from monsters feed into crafting. Equipment is forged and upgraded with those materials: familiar equipment from the series can be forged, and hunting Radiant species yields entirely new gear. Materials also craft consumable items, and the same system covers the field facilities described above. No full recipe list, upgrade tree or material cost has been published.31333234Sharpness, Decorations and Appearance33353436Melee weapons have a Sharpness level that affects whether attacks bounce off, but in this game it does not deplete when attacking, so it never needs restoring with whetstones. Decorations can be slotted into equipment to create a skill build, and are obtained through expeditions on the map and other activities. A separate feature changes the appearance of equipment without altering its stats. These details come from material for the first closed beta.35373638Solo and Cooperative Play37393840The game supports solo hunting and real-time parties of up to four. A squad can be formed with a single tap. Official material describes teammates splitting roles, covering each other during a hunt, and combining co-op skills for results that solo play cannot reach, which is consistent with the three-class structure applied to both Adventurers and buddies.39414042The Co-Op Skill draws on a pool of energy shared by the squad. Once one Adventurer activates it, the rest of the team must time their strikes to hit the same monster part within a short window for the skill to succeed, which can trigger powerful effects such as heavy damage.41434244ModeParty sizeConfirmed detailSolo1The full field is playable aloneCooperative huntUp to 4Real time, formed with a single tap, with co-op skills that combine4345Social Systems44464547Two persistent social layers have been named: fixed teams and adventure guilds. Both are described as ways for players to stay connected and to adventure together across Aesoland beyond a single hunt. A Gathering Hub has also been referenced in official coverage of the second closed beta test, alongside field expeditions and in-game events. None of the three has had its features detailed.46484749Game Modes48504951An official developer video released in February 2026 covered the difference between an Adventure Mode and a Classic Mode, and coverage of the second closed beta test referred to additional hunting modes beyond those. The names are confirmed; what separates them is not.50525153Meals52545355A meal system was detailed in October 2026. Adventurers can eat at a canteen run by a Felyne head chef and a group of Rutaco, either sitting down to eat or taking dishes away. Eating at any time before a quest grants special boosts.54565557Economy56585759Zenny is the in-game currency. Items named so far through pre-registration reward tiers include Growth Concentrate and Aqua Dew, and an item called a Standard Contract appears repeatedly in reward bundles. The Android store listing notes in-game purchases that include random items, and one Adventurer has been labelled SR, which points at a rarity scale that has not otherwise been explained.58605961Not Yet Confirmed60626163What distinguishes Adventure Mode from Classic Mode, and what the additional hunting modes are.How armour and decoration skills work in detail, and whether talismans exist.Numeric values of any kind: damage, defence, sharpness, elemental or status thresholds, monster health.Whether a hunter rank or quest rank structure exists.Gathering Hub features, field expedition rules, and how fixed teams and adventure guilds work.Stamina, item pouch and palico gadget systems, and how mini camps work beyond being buildable. How Adventurers are obtained, and what the rarity scale is.Controller support, cross-progression, and whether guilds or teams persist across regional versions.
