Added the August 28, September 3 and September 15 balance changes
11The Shadowstrix is the assassin of the six classes in Mistfall Hunter, a fast, evasive fighter that slips in and out of fights rather than standing toe to toe. The reveal videos spell it Shadow Strix, but it is the same class. Unlike a few of its siblings on the Classes page, it brings both of its weapons to launch: Daggers in one stance and Dual Blades in the other, each with two distinct playstyles.2233Daggers4455Daggers split into the Burst and Shadow Veil playstyles. The Burst Build hands the Shadowstrix a strong, short-lived damage boost and an energy recovery effect the moment it breaks stealth, which turns invisibility into a genuine threat. Layered with its crowd-control and mobility skills, it coordinates well with teammates for sudden ambushes. The Shadow Veil Build leans on Frequency Shift and Shadow Veil to cycle stealth on a loop, letting you duck back into hiding right after a strike and weave through opponents with a slippery, hard-to-pin playstyle.6677Dual Blades8899Dual Blades offer two approaches, Wound Burst and Damage Stacking. The Wound Burst Build piles up wound stacks through fast attacks, then detonates them for a huge instantaneous spike; it relies on high mobility to dart into a fight and clean it up. The Damage Stacking Build earns a damage multiplier after landing several hits, so every attack in that state grows more dangerous, making it well suited to sustained, grinding damage over a longer fight.10101111The class reveal named a slice of the kit across both weapons: Sneak, Crow Storm, Shadow Strike, Flurry Strike, Phantom Shift, and Bloody Blade Dance, alongside Shadow Veil and the afterimage effects that turn mobility into extra attack windows.12121313Archetypes at a glance14141515WeaponPlaystyleSignatureDaggersBurstDamage boost and energy recovery on breaking stealth; ambush coordinationDaggersShadow VeilFrequency Shift and Shadow Veil cycle stealth for elusive hit-and-hide playDual BladesWound BurstStacks wounds through fast hits, then detonates for a burst spikeDual BladesDamage StackingGains a damage multiplier after multiple hits for sustained output1616Between cycling stealth on the Daggers and stacking wounds on the Dual Blades, the Shadowstrix rewards players who like picking their moment and vanishing before the counterattack lands. For the dodge and energy mechanics that keep it mobile, see Combat and Weapons.17171818Balance at launch19192020The Shadowstrix came out of the June test overperforming, with the developers pointing at how much mobility and chained crowd control its skills offered for the cost. The response was targeted rather than broad: Crow Storm no longer stacks on an opponent who is already stunned, and its damage was reduced slightly. The aim was to cut the cheap lock-down chains without touching the class's core hit-and-hide identity. See Combat and Weapons for the wider tuning pass.21212222The launch pass went further than Crow Storm alone. Damage increases from weapon-specific skills and talents now only apply while the matching weapon is drawn. On daggers, Shadow Wheel Slash's damage hitbox was tuned for more consistent consecutive hits, the Lurking Blow talent's damage boost was cut slightly, a new Ambush Momentum talent grants a brief damage boost after casting Shadow Strike, and the Nimble talent's cooldown reduction now triggers only once when an afterimage hits several targets at once. On dual blades, Fang Rush's hitbox was tuned for landing consistency. Pursuit Strike and Jumping Pursuit Strike both had their mobility toned down, and the Heavy Strike Mastery talent was reworked: it no longer adds a cooldown to Pursuit Strike, keeping the zero-Energy cost behind its own internal cooldown instead.23232424Post-launch adjustments25252626The August 12, 2026 update was the first real pass on the class after release, and it pulled in several directions at once rather than flatly nerfing. One skill lost Super Armor duration and another had its cooldown raised, while a third had its cooldown lowered. One talent's interaction-speed penalty was increased and another lost a large amount of Physical Piercing. Against that, the stack-detonation talent gained duration and had its threshold dropped to eight stacks, and a separate talent's damage bonus went up. The net effect is a class asked to commit to its stacking loop rather than lean on raw penetration. The full entry is on Updates and Patch Notes.27272828The August 19 update was corrective rather than a tuning pass. A wind-up animation was added to the Free Movement talent, and four bugs were closed: the Lightweight talent failing to grant invincibility frames when triggered by a dodge, incorrect Super Armor behaviour on Teleport Blessing, the interrupt on Blade Dance failing under specific circumstances, and aerial heavy strikes that could not change direction correctly.29293030The following day the developers set out a longer-term direction for the class, and it is worth reading as intent rather than as a shipped change. They said the evasive, combat-avoidant looting playstyle is a legitimate approach they want to preserve, but that they plan to adjust skill and talent options so a Shadowstrix cannot dominate map mobility and front-line combat at the same time. More specifically, they judged that several talents and skills granting Super Armor let the class break through standard attacks head-on, which sits badly against an identity built on agility, ambush, and cunning, and said they are highly likely to consider removing those Super Armor capabilities. No such change had shipped as of late August.31+32+The direction set out on August 20 arrived in numbers over the following month. The August 28 maintenance restricted Phantom Shift's speed boost to movement toward enemies, reduced Spinning Slash's damage and travel distance to curb indiscriminate counterattacks from Super Armor while keeping the skill's core behaviour, reduced Flurry Strike's damage, and fixed the Lightweight talent (abnormal distances from dodge-jump combinations and a stray trigger) and the Wound Buildup talent, which had been stacking off the wrong damage sources.33+34+The September 3 update was heavier. Phantom Shift and the Free Movement talent both gained longer wind-ups, and Flurry Strike's charge state now drains Energy continuously, which the developers described as removing a zero-cost way for Dual Blades players to sit in a charge indefinitely. The skill's Energy cost also rose slightly, offset by small refunds: landing a charged Flurry Strike under the Deep Charge talent recovers a little Energy, and so does reaching maximum stacks on Wound Buildup. The Lurking Blow talent no longer keeps buffing a hunter who has been knocked out of Stealth by damage. September 15 added an audio cue when Flurry Strike changes charge phase, fixed the Ankle Cut talent, and removed a rubberbanding fault when a dodge was chained onto the very end of Bloody Blade Dance.
