11There have been two distinct PC builds of Huaxia: Warring States. The free demo shipped first as its own application, with its own save files and its own update track, and the paid Early Access build followed. The demo listing is no longer carried on the storefront, so the paid build is now the only way to play, but a large amount of community video and written coverage still shows the demo. This page describes the differences and helps you tell them apart in third-party coverage.2233Two Separate Applications4455BuildReleasedCostSave CompatibilityFree demo (delisted)March 8, 2026FreeDemo saves do not transfer to the Early Access buildPaid Early AccessApril 28, 2026Paid; pricing varies by regionEarly Access saves carry forward across Early Access patches66The demo is no longer available to download. It existed as a separate free application through the Early Access launch window, and the store now carries only the paid build and its free content pack, so new players cannot try the demo first. That makes the identification signals below more useful rather than less: demo footage stays online long after the build that produced it has gone.778899What the Demo Covered10101111The free demo introduced the central systems: character creation, the elemental and trigram combat overlay, early retainer recruitment, exploration of a slice of the world, and the opening of the strategic layer. It used a streamlined interface and a smaller content footprint, with several systems either trimmed or stubbed in. The demo also exposed a crime system and a clan member-management layer.121213131414What Changed for Early Access15151616The developer has stated that the run between the demo and the Early Access launch included four playtests, more than forty internal updates, and over five hundred bugs cleared, with a near-complete redesign of most systems aside from the visual style. Specific differences include:171718181919Map scope: the Early Access build opens up the full current playable region; the demo limited movement to a smaller subsetRetainer roster: the recruitable cast expanded; some demo retainers were rebalanced or restructuredCombat: balance changes across weapons and martial arts; the strategic battle layer was tuned for longer engagements; see Combat SystemSchools: more schools of thought became available, and several gained their own progression chainsQuality of life: save and load times, interface clarity, and quest tracking were all reworked20202121Identifying Which Build a Video Shows22222323If you find a guide, walkthrough, or tier list, check these signals before trusting the content:24242525SignalProbable BuildUpload date is before April 2026Demo buildMap shows only a small handful of accessible countiesDemo buildInterface uses earlier panel layouts and fewer tabsDemo buildUpload date is May 2026 or later, with a fuller world map and a clan-management screenEarly Access buildVideo discusses retainer pairs, school commitments, or strategic battles at army scaleLikely Early Access build2626Why it Matters27272828Demo-era guides occasionally describe a system that no longer behaves the same way. New players following demo-era advice may find that recommended starting builds, retainer recruitment paths, or stronghold tactics no longer fit the current game. When in doubt, treat older content as historical context and verify against the current build.29293030See also: Getting Started, Combat System, Retainers.
