Within the Primal Flow fighting style, players can switch between four Weapon Types by tapping the corresponding button. Each weapon has its own attack chains, speed, and damage profile. Players can incorporate different weapons into a single combo, swapping mid-string to mix fast hits with heavy finishers.
The ringblade (also referred to as "wheel" in some translations) is the fastest weapon. It uses rapid circular slashes at close range. The short reach is offset by high attack speed and strong combo potential. It builds stagger damage quickly through sheer volume of hits.
The lance (or spear) offers a balance of speed and reach. Its thrusting attacks keep enemies at a comfortable distance while maintaining a reasonably fast attack tempo. Sweeping motions can catch multiple enemies. The lance is a good all-around choice for players who want reach without sacrificing too much speed.
The hammer hits hard but swings slowly. Individual strikes deal the most damage per hit and have the highest stagger contribution. Charged hammer attacks during a boss's vulnerability window can produce enormous damage spikes. The main tradeoff is committing to long attack animations that leave the player exposed.
The sword is the most balanced option, mixing decent speed with moderate damage and defensive counters. Its moveset includes both offensive combos and reactive counter-slashes. The sword was featured prominently in the Gamescom 2025 demo and is likely the first weapon most new players will use.
Weapon switching is instant and can be done mid-combo. A common tactic shown in gameplay previews was opening with fast ringblade hits to build stagger, then switching to the hammer for a charged finisher once the boss flinches. The system rewards players who learn the timing windows for each weapon rather than sticking to a single type.
