The 64 sq km open world of Honor of Kings: World provides multiple traversal methods to help players move efficiently across its varied terrain. These range from conventional mounts to more exotic options like hoverboards and gliders.
Horses are the primary ground mount and are available early in the game. They provide significant speed boosts over running and can be summoned in most outdoor areas. Horse models can be customized through cosmetic options, and some hero-specific mounts (like Guan Yu's Red Hare automaton) have unique visual designs.
Hoverboards are a faster traversal option that become available through progression. They glide slightly above the ground surface, allowing smooth movement over uneven terrain. Hoverboards are faster than horses on flat ground but less effective on steep inclines. They have a distinct visual style that fits the game's blend of traditional and futuristic aesthetics.
Gliders allow aerial traversal from elevated positions. Jumping from a cliff, building, or high point and deploying a glider lets the player cover large horizontal distances while gradually descending. Gliders are essential for reaching certain points of interest that are only accessible from above and for quickly descending from mountain areas without taking fall damage.
Fixed zip lines connect specific points in the world, typically between elevated positions. They provide fast, automated travel along predetermined routes and are often placed to connect areas that would otherwise require significant detours to reach on foot. Zip lines are also found within certain dungeon environments.
Players can swim across bodies of water and dive underwater in certain areas. Underwater exploration reveals hidden caves, treasure caches, and environmental storytelling elements. An oxygen meter limits underwater time, encouraging players to plan their dives.
Waypoints scattered across the map enable instant fast travel to previously discovered locations. The fast travel network is dense enough that most destinations are within a short ride of the nearest waypoint. Chang'an is the central hub with direct fast travel connections to all major regions.
