Remove fabricated hero abilities and roster; hedge unverified hero claims
Heroes in Honor of Kings: World are not separate playable characters in the Genshin Impact sense. Instead, each hero from the Honor of Kings MOBA is reimagined as a Flow Style that the Son of Primordial Flow protagonist can learn and channel through the Flow system. The player controls a single character but can equip two Flow Styles at once via the Dual-Class System and switch between them in real time during combat with no animation lock.
TiMi Studio Group has stated that Honor of Kings: World will launch with roughly 15 playable Flow Styles spanning multiple role archetypes, but the full launch roster has not been officially published in English-language marketing. What follows is a breakdown of which heroes have been directly confirmed in official TiMi or Tencent material (V), which are reported with reasonable consistency but single-sourced (R), and which are carried over from MOBA lore or community speculation (S).
The following heroes have been named directly on the official Honor of Kings: World lore portal, in trailers, or in trusted hands-on previews. Their presence in the game is not in doubt.
Hero | Role | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Li Bai | Assassin | Named on the official hero data page at world.honorofkings.com; sword-based style |
Yang Jian | Warrior | Named on the official hero data page; divine successor figure in lore |
Kai (Kaizer) | Warrior/Parry specialist | Parry-focused kit showcased in hands-on previews; signature Blade Resonance counter |
Mulan | Warrior/Fighter | Dual-wield stance by default, ultimate switches to a greatsword stance; described in multiple previews |
Zhuangzi | Tank/Protector | Reworked from MOBA support into an HoKW tank; named in press coverage of the rework |
Jiang Ziya | Mage | Present in multiple hero showcases; specific kit details from beta coverage may be subject to change |
The following heroes have been listed in secondary coverage, most commonly in the buffget.com pre-launch preview, as part of a reported "15 heroes at launch" roster. They are all MOBA heroes and are plausible additions, but have not been confirmed by official TiMi material. Treat them as expected rather than confirmed until a first-party source names them for Honor of Kings: World.
Hero | Reported Role |
|---|---|
Lu Bu | Warrior |
Guan Yu | Warrior |
Zhao Yun | Warrior |
Diao Chan | Mage |
Zhou Yu | Mage, fire element |
Wang Zhaojun | Mage, ice element |
Ling | Assassin |
Hou Yi | Marksman, bow |
Marco Polo | Marksman, dual pistols |
Cai Wenji | Support |
Da Qiao | Support |
Some heroes appear in Honor of Kings: World primarily as story figures rather than confirmed playable Flow Styles at launch:
Wukong: a central figure in the Ferali rebellion backstory and the subject of a Sun Wukong-inspired boss encounter shown in the GDC 2025 demo. Whether he is playable at launch has not been confirmed
Fuzi: headmaster of Jixia Academy and one of the Three Sages; appears as a major NPC, not a playable style
Mozi: the second Sage and the architect of Chang'an; appears as an NPC tied to the Mohist Machinery tradition
Several claims about heroes have circulated in community coverage without reputable sources. Treat all of these as unverified until a trailer, official page, or press kit confirms them:
Specific skill lists, cooldowns, damage numbers, and passive names for any hero (early beta coverage used MOBA values that will not match the final game)
Specific "role" taxonomies like "Warrior / Assassin / Mage / Marksman / Support" applied to heroes whose HoKW kits have not been detailed
Confirmed playable status for Xiao Qiao, Daji, Lao Fuzi, Gongsun Li, Xi Shi, Meng Ya, Dongfang Yao, Sun Bin, and Bi Fang (the boss); these names circulate on fan sites without HoKW-specific confirmation
Exact per-hero skill-tree node counts and precise damage scaling values
Regardless of which specific heroes are playable at launch, the broader system is well verified. Each Flow Style provides the protagonist with that hero's basic attack strings, three active skills, and an ultimate. Flow Styles have their own dedicated health bar, so equipping two styles effectively doubles the player's survivability in tough encounters. Players can switch between their two equipped styles mid-combo, with hands-on reports comparing the feel to Monster Hunter weapon switching rather than Genshin Impact character swapping. Cooldowns carry between style swaps, which prevents players from simply spamming their best abilities in rotation.
Each Flow Style has customization options beyond its base kit. Hands-on previews describe skill trees, talent options, and gear that shape how a style plays over time. Specific numbers and currency systems for upgrading Flow Styles have not been publicly detailed in first-party material. See Flow Styles, Skill Trees, and Dual-Class System for the systems documentation.
Prioritize learning one melee style and one ranged style so you can adapt to different fight layouts
The Primal Flow, your innate style, lets you cycle between four different weapons (ring blades, lance, hammer, sword) and is the most flexible option while you are still unlocking hero Flow Styles
Pair a parry-focused melee style like Kai with a ranged style to cover the defensive gap when you can't close distance safely
Style swaps share cooldowns but not HP bars; treat the second style as a fresh pool when you take heavy damage
