The Burning is the mystical and spiritual apocalypse affecting the Wild West in Guns of Eschaton. It has transformed the American Old South into a frontier of ruined settlements, forgotten places, impossible machines, and monsters.

World setting

Across the frontier, reality bends beneath ancient forces, competing faiths, and mythologies distorted by the catastrophe. The factions encountered by the gunslinger draw on real mythologies altered by the apocalypse.

The game follows a man who has lost almost everything and is trying to reach home before losing what remains. His road passes through ruined settlements and mythic roads, with monstrous factions and historical figures reimagined between legend and damnation. The Black Rider appears in the premise, ahead of the gunslinger.

The demo area

The standalone demo takes place in one part of this world. The full game is planned with a much larger map and additional regions, while some demo enemies have been placed in the area specifically to demonstrate combat variety.
