Combat in Guns of Eschaton combines first-person gunfire with enemy study, calculated parries and dashes, and occult abilities. The gunslinger is fragile and outmatched by the monsters around him, so encounters call for deliberate actions and attention to enemy weaknesses.
Enemy study
The Cherokee Codex records enemy behavior, anatomy, weak points, rituals, and hidden rules. Its information helps the player understand what they are fighting before committing to an action.
Combat options
Option | Role |
|---|---|
Gunfire | Weapons have their own handling and limitations, with ammunition decisions made for the enemy being fought. |
Bullet types | Different bullets suit different monsters. A revolver cylinder can be planned as a sequence of consumables. |
Parries and dashes | Calculated defensive actions are part of surviving encounters. |
Occult abilities | Mystic abilities provide additional combat options. |

The intended combat depends on more than reflexes. The player studies the opponent, identifies weaknesses, and commits to each action. Weapons and Ammunition and Character Builds describe the announced equipment and ability systems.
Demo combat
The demo includes gunfights, different weapons and abilities, exploration, and a boss. Some enemies were deliberately brought into the playable area to show combat variety, so those encounters do not establish their normal campaign placement.
