ABUTTON has used public Steam playtests to shape Guns & Dragons before release. Two had run as of October 2026, and a third is planned for November 2026. Players sign up with the Request Access button on the store page. The playtest has its own Steam hub and discussion board, which are hidden while no test is running.

Playtest 3 | Planned for November 2026 | Chapter 2 (planned) |
Playtest 1
The first playtest was announced with the game's reveal on July 28, 2026 and opened on July 30, running until August 10. The studio later said it had been open to anyone who wanted to try it. Players could play solo or in squads of up to three, and the build ended once the first boss was defeated. According to a developer reply, the in-game languages were Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese.
Korean press reported that the studio received 100,000 tester applications worldwide. At gamescom 2026, the game's PM, Kim Ik-song, said the team pushed out eight or nine hotfixes over the two weeks of the test. Director Park Jun-woo said he spent days watching people play a demo at ChinaJoy 2026, which overlapped with the test.
Feedback covered narrow combat spaces, healing that felt too tight, expensive blacksmith upgrades, perk choices that were hard to read, and AI-generated artifact icons. The studio's responses are covered on the Gameplay and Development History pages.
Playtest 2
The studio announced the second round on September 8, 2026, introducing Eryn and the bow, and gave the dates on September 11. Its posts listed what was new:
Four-player co-op, up from three.
Eryn, a new playable character, with Sieg still fully playable.
Bows as a new weapon type: 23 bows across four families. See Weapons.
Ten interface languages, with translations described as temporary and still being refined.
Early Steam Deck adjustments, explicitly not a finished version and not yet through Valve's official compatibility review.
Artifact icons redrawn by hand, replacing AI-generated ones.
The test opened on September 17 and was due to end on September 23. On September 21 the studio extended it to September 30. During the test it ran a community contest with three categories, Funniest Bug, Most Insane Build and Best Group Shot. Prizes were a special community role, the winning entry shared on the studio's social channels, and in the studio's words, the eternal admiration of the dev team.
In its September 30 wrap-up, the studio said it had gathered feedback on Eryn, the bow, the new four-player co-op, performance, bugs and the UI and UX. It also acknowledged that with only Chapter 1 available, enemy variety had been limited and there was not enough room to build a truly broken run.
Playtest 3
The September 30 post said the next playtest was planned for November 2026 and would feature Chapter 2. As of October 15, 2026, exact dates had not been announced.
