Reworded the last-generation console exclusion as not announced rather than confirmed
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026. The release date was confirmed by Rockstar Games and reaffirmed by Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick during the company's Q3 FY2026 earnings call in February 2026, and reaffirmed again during the Q4 and full-year FY2026 earnings call on May 21, 2026. The game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch. No PC version has been announced as of September 23, 2026.

The game was originally announced with a 2025 release window during its first trailer reveal in December 2023. On May 2, 2025, Rockstar confirmed a delay, pushing the release to May 26, 2026. A subsequent delay announced on November 6, 2025 moved the date to November 19, 2026. The final date of November 19, 2026 came from Rockstar's own announcement. Take-Two's CEO stated that marketing for the game would begin in summer 2026, signaling confidence in meeting the November deadline.

The PlayStation 5 is one of two confirmed launch platforms for Grand Theft Auto VI. Sony's console has been a central part of the game's marketing since the first trailer. The PS5's SSD architecture, which enables fast loading and seamless streaming of open-world environments, is well suited for Leonida's large and detailed game world.
Alongside the June 24, 2026 pre-order reveal, Sony detailed how the game uses the PlayStation 5 hardware. Grand Theft Auto VI carries the official "Plays Best on PlayStation 5" designation and supports the DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, the controller's built-in speaker, and Tempest 3D AudioTech for spatial sound, with the console's ultra-high-speed SSD enabling near-instant load times. Players who pre-order a digital copy on the PlayStation Store receive a free month of GTA+. Rockstar also unveiled the game's official cover art on June 18, 2026, available as downloadable artwork. The PlayStation Store also lists Grand Theft Auto VI as PS5 Pro Enhanced, without stating what that badge delivers.
The Xbox Series X|S is the second confirmed launch platform. Both the standard Series X and the digital-only Series S are included. Take-Two has confirmed that physical editions will be available at launch, countering earlier speculation that the game might launch as digital-only.
In August 2026 Rockstar North's head of development told attendees at a hands-off preview event that the console builds were running at 30 frames per second at that stage of development, and that whether a 60 fps option ships at launch or later had not yet been decided. That is a description of a development build, not a published shipping target, and Rockstar itself has announced nothing about frame rate.
Rockstar has published no resolution target, no frame-rate target and no ray-tracing mode for either console, and nothing at all about the PlayStation 5 Pro beyond the storefront badge. No 40 fps or 120 Hz mode has been announced, and no figures exist for the Xbox Series S. Checked September 12, 2026 against both console storefronts and Rockstar's own published material.
Rockstar has not announced a PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI. As of September 23, 2026 there is no announced PC platform, no PC release window, and no storefront listing. When asked about PC earlier in the year, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said Rockstar has its own approach to platforms and would make more announcements in due time. At Take-Two's annual meeting of stockholders on September 17, 2026, he was asked again and said the company generally launches on platforms with a meaningful audience and that PC is becoming more important to the company over time, but he did not announce a PC version. Neither remark says that a PC version exists or has a date. Rockstar has released PC versions of its previous open-world games some time after their console launches, but it has committed to nothing here, and any PC date circulating publicly is an estimate rather than an announcement.
Rockstar and Take-Two have announced Grand Theft Auto VI only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; no PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version has been announced. The game is built exclusively for current-generation hardware, taking full advantage of the processing power, memory, and storage speeds offered by the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Take-Two's own forthcoming-releases table, published with its first-quarter fiscal 2027 results on August 7, 2026, lists Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for November 19, 2026 and carries no PC entry. That is the absence of an announcement rather than a statement that a PC version will never be made.

Rockstar confirmed editions and pricing on June 24, 2026. Grand Theft Auto VI ships in two editions: a Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition at $99.99. Pre-orders opened at midnight local time on June 25, 2026 on the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, and at select retailers.
Every pre-order, and any purchase made before November 20, 2026 (the console storefronts list the cutoff as 23:59:59 on November 19, 2026), includes the Vintage Vice City Pack, and digital pre-orders add a free month of GTA+. Digital pre-loading begins November 12, 2026; physical copies ship with a download code inside the box rather than a disc, available from the same date. The Ultimate Edition bundles an exclusive collection of vehicles, weapons, apparel, businesses, and activities woven through the campaign. See Pre-Order and Editions for the full breakdown.
The difference between the two editions is sold separately as the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition Upgrade, listed at $20.00. Players who buy the Standard Edition can add the upgrade later rather than being locked into their choice at pre-order, which makes the Ultimate Edition the Standard Edition plus that single add-on.
The PlayStation Store's regional listings carry local prices for both editions. On every regional listing sampled, the game unlocks at midnight local time on November 19, 2026 in that store region's reference time zone, which is midnight Eastern for the US and Canada. The unlock is set per store region, not per player's own time zone within a region. The table gives each region's prices and the matching unlock time in UTC, as listed on September 23, 2026. The Xbox US listing carries the same 05:00 UTC release time as the US PlayStation Store.

Both console storefronts list Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player experience that offers optional in-game purchases. The PlayStation 5 listing sets the unlock for 12:00 a.m. Eastern on November 19, 2026 and carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced badge, along with offline play, Remote Play support, and DualSense vibration and trigger effects. The Xbox listing is marked Optimized for Xbox Series X|S and supports achievements, presence and cloud saves, with thirteen supported languages.
The month of GTA+ that comes with digital pre-orders has redemption terms that differ by platform. On PlayStation the month must be redeemed by March 31, 2027, is limited to one redemption per account regardless of how many copies are bought, and renews at the regular monthly price until cancelled. On Xbox it must be redeemed within 180 days of placing the pre-order, and redemption is not available to child accounts with restrictions on age-restricted content.
Sony has announced two Grand Theft Auto VI limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers, a Black Limited Edition and a White Limited Edition. Both have a colour-shifting finish inspired by a Vice City sunset and neon lights, palm tree details molded into the controller, and official Grand Theft Auto VI branding. They launch starting November 19, 2026 at a recommended retail price of $84.99, €84.99, £74.99 or ¥12,480 including tax, with pre-orders from September 10, 2026 through PlayStation's direct store. The White edition is also sold at participating retailers, while the Black edition is exclusive to PlayStation's direct store where it operates and is sold through select retailers in other regions.
