Overview

Grand Theft Auto VI features a wide range of sports and recreational activities spread across the state of Leonida. Official trailers, screenshots, and promotional materials have confirmed activities including basketball, tennis, gym workouts, boxing and cage fighting, pool, mini-golf, and off-road racing. These activities expand on the side content available in previous GTA titles, offering players diverse ways to spend time outside of the main story missions.

Basketball

Basketball has been confirmed through an official Rockstar screenshot released on May 6, 2025. The screenshot shows a rooftop basketball court in Vice City with five NPCs present: one shooting free throws while others observe. The rooftop setting suggests basketball courts are integrated into the urban environment at various locations throughout the city. Basketball has appeared in limited forms in previous GTA games, but GTA VI appears to offer a more fully realized version of the sport as a side activity.

Tennis

Tennis courts are visible in Trailer 1, appearing in a quick shot showing a court located in the heart of Vice City. Tennis was a fully playable activity in Grand Theft Auto V, where players could compete against NPCs at various courts in Los Santos. GTA VI appears to continue this feature, with the warm climate and resort culture of Vice City providing a natural setting for the sport.

Gym and Weightlifting

Gym workouts and weightlifting are confirmed through multiple trailer scenes. Trailer 2 shows Jason lifting weights on a beach, and additional footage shows characters working out at outdoor gym equipment. The gym appears to tie into the game's fitness and body mechanics system, where physical activity affects the character's appearance and potentially their stats.

Outdoor gym setups visible in trailers include weight benches and free weights positioned on or near beaches, fitting the Southern Florida fitness culture that emphasizes outdoor exercise. Players may be able to access both outdoor gyms and dedicated indoor facilities.

Boxing and Cage Fighting

Boxing and cage fighting are confirmed through Trailer 2 footage. Lucia is shown throwing a high kick at an opponent inside a steel cage, suggesting a mixed martial arts style of combat rather than pure boxing. Separate footage shows Lucia training with a punching bag with wrapped fists, indicating that boxing-style training is available as a gym activity.

Lucia's official character background states that her father taught her to fight from a young age, providing narrative context for why fighting activities are associated with her character. The cage fighting activity may function as both a side activity for earning money and a way to improve combat skills.

Pool

Pool tables have been confirmed through Trailer 2, which includes a shot of a pool table in what appears to be a bar setting. Pool has been a staple side activity in recent GTA entries, available in bars and social venues. In GTA VI, pool tables are expected to be accessible at bars and similar establishments across Leonida.

Mini-Golf

Mini-golf has been confirmed through an official Rockstar screenshot accompanying the reveal of Cal Hampton. The screenshot shows Cal standing with a golf club while a game of mini-golf takes place in the background. The activity appears to be set in the Leonida Keys area, consistent with the casual, tourist-oriented recreation available in the Keys.

Off-Road Racing

Off-road racing is confirmed through trailer footage showing riders on dirt bikes and ATVs blazing through the rugged tracks of Mount Kalaga National Park. The Maibatsu Sanchez dirt bike has been confirmed to return, and an official Rockstar screenshot of Mount Kalaga shows two Sanchez riders off-roading through the national park terrain. Off-road racing may include competitive racing, time trials, and terrain challenges.
