Corrected the stale line saying campaign difficulty had not been detailed, and added the difficulty-as-a-puzzle design intent

Added the settings introduced before launch: field of view slider, film grain and chromatic aberration toggles, HDR calibration and PC frame rate caps
11Gears of War: E-Day ships with a deep settings menu split across accessibility, control, audio, interface and system tabs. This page covers the control, difficulty, audio and interface options; the accessibility tab is on Accessibility Options, and PC rendering options on PC Features and Graphics Options.2233Control Schemes4455SchemeDescriptionDefaultThe standard presetModernCloser to other modern shootersModern AltMoves Slide to the B buttonLegacyClosest to the series' classic control layoutLegacy AltMoves some A button actions to other buttons66Buttons can also be remapped individually by swapping functionality. Both are described on Versus.7788Aiming and Reloading991010SettingOptionsAim AssistOff, Default per-weapon assistance, Snap Aim which briefly snaps the reticle to the nearest valid target, or Lock-on Aiming which holds the reticle on the nearest valid enemy and switches target on a flick. The campaign preview build showed four tiers picked before a playthrough starts, each with a short description attached to it in the menu.39394040TierDescription Shown in the MenuCasualA forgiving experience for players who want to focus on the story and explorationNormalA balanced challengeHardcoreEvery skill will be put to the testInsanePunishing difficulty that leaves no room for error4141Difficulty is treated as a design lever rather than a speed test. The studio describes turning it up as turning the game into a puzzle instead of a faster round of whack-a-mole: the options are on the board at every tier, but on the higher ones you have to look around and find them. Weapon handling and the reload timing that feeds into it are on Combat and Gunplay.42424343The same menu let individual parts of the difficulty be adjusted on their own rather than only as a preset. The components shown were player health, player damage, active reload difficulty, recoil strength and the number of lives. In co-operative play the setting was per player, so one member of a session could run a harder tier than the rest. None of this has been officially detailed and it may change before launch. The acts and chapters these settings apply across are on Campaign Acts and Chapters, and the co-operative rules are on Co-Op and Split-Screen.44444545System46464747The system tab holds the Language Select setting, documented as offering 22 options and requiring a restart to apply. Language support is on Release and Platforms. Every settings section can be reset individually, by section or entirely, and settings that differ from their default are marked with a hexagonal icon.48+49+Settings Added Before Launch50+51+The September 30, 2026 patch notes list several options added after the Open Beta.
