Added the preview name of Cloud's Resonance
Cloud is a legacy Vision in Final Fantasy Resonance, originally from FINAL FANTASY VII. His official bio for this game identifies him as a former SOLDIER 1st Class. He wields lightning- and water-element attacks and learns multiple abilities focused on dealing critical damage.
Critical damage is Cloud's specialty among the named Visions: his ability list centers on landing critical hits rather than on defense or support. His lightning and water attacks also feed the stagger game, since every hit shaves an enemy's Stagger Gauge and weakness hits shave it faster; see Stagger System.
His signature Cross-slash survived the rebuild. The producer used Cloud as the system's working example: equip his Vision to any party member and that member can use Cross-slash. Everything else in his kit was designed from zero for this game, so his elements and abilities are specific to Resonance rather than imports from FINAL FANTASY VII. Abilities learned from his Vision stay equippable while other Visions are active, within the cost limit covered at Abilities and Mastery.
Cloud's Vision is unlocked at a vision crystal sanctum, one of the shrines scattered across the world where you revisit stories from the original games. Every Vision is earnable in-game; the producer said there is no DLC for Visions.
The first time you call him into battle, the game plays a short movie explaining his original game, giving newcomers the background before the fight carries on.
In preview builds, a dialogue option lets the player answer with the line "Not interested", a quiet nod to Cloud's original characterization.
The developers said the creators of the numbered titles reviewed how their characters are handled in this game and approved it, Cloud included.
Each Vision powers a unique Resonance attack, unleashed at the end of the bonus phase after a sweeping stagger, with one use per sweeping stagger and a cinematic unique to the Vision; legacy heroes' sequences render in full 3D. Cloud's Resonance appears in Japanese preview coverage under the name Climhazzard, playing out as a rapid series of slashes that cuts between 3D footage and pixel art; an official English name has not been published.
