Fable (2026) is built on the ForzaTech engine, a proprietary engine created by Turn 10 Studios and adapted by Playground Games for RPG use. Official minimum and recommended PC system requirements have not been announced as of March 2026. The game is scheduled for February 2027, and system requirements are typically published closer to launch.
Confirmed Platforms
Platform | Status |
|---|---|
Xbox Series X|S | Confirmed, launch title |
PlayStation 5 | Confirmed, announced January 2026 |
Windows PC (Steam) | Confirmed |
Day one availability | |
Xbox Cloud Gaming | Confirmed |
Fable is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, meaning a single digital purchase works on both Xbox and PC. The PlayStation 5 version was confirmed alongside the Developer Direct in January 2026, making Fable a multiplatform release at launch.
Expected Hardware Demands
While official specs are not published, several factors inform what hardware the game will likely require. The ForzaTech engine brings advanced rendering capabilities from the Forza series:
Component | Expected Requirement |
|---|---|
Ray tracing | Real-time ray tracing for lighting, reflections, and shadows |
Dynamic weather | Full weather system with changing conditions |
Dense NPC simulation | Over 1,000 characters with individual behavior |
Open-world streaming | Seamless terrain loading across the entire map |
Vegetation rendering | Detailed plant life and foliage throughout Albion |
Estimated Minimum Requirements
Community estimate only. NOT an official Playground Games specification. Playground Games has not yet published PC system requirement tiers. The values below are extrapolated from publicly available 2026-era open-world RPG benchmarks; treat them as a rough working guide, not as confirmed specifications.
Based on the ForzaTech engine's track record with Forza Motorsport (2023) and the increased complexity of an RPG world, community-side estimates for the minimum specs (NOT official Playground Games figures) typically include:
Component | Estimated Minimum |
|---|---|
Operating System | Windows 10 (64-bit) |
Processor | Intel Core i5-10400 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or equivalent |
Memory | 16 GB RAM |
Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 1070 / AMD RX 5700 XT or equivalent |
Storage | 75+ GB on SSD (SSD likely required) |
These are community-side estimates only. Playground Games has not published official PC specification tiers. Actual requirements may differ. The game's open-world nature and NPC density suggest that SSD storage will be strongly recommended or required for acceptable loading performance.
Estimated Recommended Requirements
Community estimate only. NOT an official Playground Games specification. Playground Games has not yet published PC system requirement tiers. The values below are extrapolated from publicly available 2026-era open-world RPG benchmarks; treat them as a rough working guide, not as confirmed specifications.
Community-side recommended estimates (NOT official Playground Games figures) for smooth performance at 1440p with high settings and ray tracing typically include:
Component | Estimated Recommended |
|---|---|
Operating System | Windows 11 (64-bit) |
Processor | Intel Core i7-12700 / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X or equivalent |
Memory | 32 GB RAM |
Graphics | NVIDIA RTX 3070 / AMD RX 7800 XT or equivalent |
Storage | 75+ GB on NVMe SSD |
Ray tracing will likely be the biggest GPU demand. DLSS (NVIDIA) and FSR (AMD) upscaling support is expected, which would allow lower-tier GPUs to achieve acceptable performance with ray tracing enabled.
Optimization Expectations
Playground Games has significant experience optimizing open-world games for both high-end and mid-range hardware. The Forza Horizon series is known for running well across a wide range of PCs. Whether that optimization quality carries over to Fable's very different gameplay demands remains to be seen.
The shift from racing (vehicles at high speed with minimal NPC interaction) to RPG (character on foot surrounded by hundreds of simulated NPCs) presents unique optimization challenges. The 1,000+ NPC simulation with individual routines is computationally expensive and will likely be a performance bottleneck on lower-end systems.
Console Performance
Console performance targets have not been confirmed. Xbox Series X is expected to target 4K/30fps or dynamic 4K/60fps with quality and performance modes. Xbox Series S will likely run at reduced resolution and settings. PlayStation 5 performance should be comparable to Xbox Series X given similar hardware capabilities.
This article will be updated with official system requirements when Playground Games publishes them ahead of the February 2027 launch.
Age Ratings
On May 22, 2026, the South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee classified Fable as Not Available to Minors (18+), citing language related to sexual acts, frequent killing and bodily mutilation with weapons, criminal acts based on user choices, and excessive vulgar language. The Australian Classification Board assigned an M rating for Violence and Mature Themes around the same time. The ESRB has rated the game M for Mature 17+ (Blood, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Violence). See Platforms and Release for the broader rating-board context.
