Non-Player Characters

Created the NPC roster: nine named characters with their stated roles, plus the six named but unfilled town jobs
Half of Emberville is a rescue. The denizens of a once thriving town are imprisoned inside the Vitromotus, and freeing them sends them home. Once there they lend their skills, teach their trades, hand out rewards and unlock mechanics, which is how rebuilding Emberville actually progresses. The store description puts it plainly: get to know the denizens of Emberville, hear their stories, fulfil quests, engage with townsfolk and unlock mechanics.
Most of the characters below were introduced once each, in short development updates published through 2025, usually alongside concept art of the interior of their house. What follows is what the studio has stated and nothing more. Shop inventories, quest chains and dialogue trees beyond these lines are not published as of 11 September 2026.
Character | Role | What has been stated |
|---|---|---|
Tolcan | Tracker and biome specialist | A golden-maned beastman who grew up hunting in a quiet mountain village and was tricked into the prison. Inside it he has become a biome specialist who can tip the player off to creature locations and weaknesses. Rescuing him unlocks the Bestiary, extra quests, crucial clues and blueprints for special weaponry. He is the most fully described character in the published material. |
Orallis | Diviner and shopkeeper | Isolated as a child by haunting divinations, she later wandered from village to village helping people find water, treasure and even lost children, moving on whenever suspicion caught up with her. She came across the fire-ruined bones of a once great Duthatch city, settled near the forest, learned its history and laid its lingering souls to rest. The town rebuilt from those ashes became Emberville. In game she deals in destructive potions, curses and witchcraft trinkets. See Story and Setting for the wider lore around the town. |
Morcha | Seamstress, in-game title Weaver | Her house interior has been shown. The studio teased bespoke outfits carrying unique buffs and elemental properties woven into armor as possibilities, then explicitly declined to confirm either, so neither is treated here as a feature. |
Alora | Witch shopkeeper | Described as the local witch shopkeeper. Her house concept art was the first NPC interior the studio showed publicly, in July 2025. |
Aerith | Tinkerer | Verdant skin, multicolour hair and subtle flower-root detailing that still reads at pixel scale. The studio describes her as more tinkerer than talker, dealing in enchanted trinkets and alchemy rather than exposition. |
Farfeith | Hunter-warrior | A hunter-warrior of Creagoram's Duthatch, and the widower of Manedail. One mention, with no gameplay role attached to him yet. |
Loen | Fishing supplier | Stationed on a shoreline inside the Vitromotus, he sells hooks, rods and baits, buys the player's catches, and builds rapport that levels the player's kit toward larger and stranger creatures. Each biome is stated to have its own catch list. See Life Skills. |
Adeos | Scribe of the acolytes | The in-world archivist who introduces The Archives, cataloguing the knowledge gathered over generations inside the prison because kymia cannot prevent the decay of the mind. He is the only one of these characters with an authored lore text behind him rather than a devlog paragraph, and the only one reported as appearing in a playable build. |
Gumu | Merchant | Described in hands-on coverage of a pre-release build as an Emberville merchant, the surveyor of treasure, who trades shiny items for gold. He has not been named in first-party material, so treat him as unconfirmed for the shipping build. |
Several town jobs have been named without a character attached. They come from a town sound-design pass and from the list of key buildings the team designed, so they are jobs the town is being built around rather than announced characters.
Role | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
Chef | One of four town jobs given its own set of ambient sounds during a 2025 sound-design pass. |
Jeweler | Same sound-design pass. The matching crafting profession is Jewelcrafting. |
Carpenter | Same sound-design pass. The carpenter's shop is one of the key town buildings designed in May 2025. |
Archeologist | Same sound-design pass. No further detail published. |
Seer | The seer's house is one of the key town buildings designed in May 2025, alongside a fountain tied to a deity figure in the studio's internal lore roadmap. |
Class Trainer | An interface for choosing and changing specialization, described in the studio's own design documentation. That documentation is dated, first person and carries disclaimers, so treat it as design intent rather than shipped behaviour. See Classes and Progression. |
Beyond the named cast, ordinary villagers wander the renovated town, and the studio has shown finished house interiors for Morcha, Orallis and Tolcan. Coverage of a pre-release build adds featherless chickens roaming the streets that can be attacked with no consequence, which is a small piece of flavour from an unreleased version rather than a confirmed feature.
Nobody knows yet. A cast of 22 performers was announced in July 2026 and, as of 11 September 2026, not one of them has been mapped to a named character. See Voice Cast.
