The Nightstalker is the fourth announced class in Embers of the Uncrowned and the first new class named after the Steam Next Fest Demo. NEXON introduced it as in development in a dev note on 16 September 2026, describing a silent ranged hunter who melts into the dark, manages a depleting resource called Moonlight, and fires a special arrow called Moonflare. It joins the Spectral Blade, Executioner, and Stormbringer, and it has not been playable in any public build.

Concept
The studio built the Nightstalker from the story of a hunter who survived alone in a barren land of polar night, where the sun does not rise for months and darkness never lifts. The dev note frames the class in the second person: harsh cold toughened the body, moonlight was the only light, and shadow and frost were learned from that dark. The design goal is a ranged class that feels distinct from existing archers through precise resource management and kiting, so that every shot counts.
Secondary coverage places a silhouette-only teaser on the studio's official Discord around 10 September 2026; the 16 September dev note is the first first-party written account of the mechanics.
Combat

Moonlight
Most classes in the game build a resource and then spend it on skills. The Nightstalker starts with Moonlight and spends it down as the fight goes on, and the note says that for this class how you manage that resource is how you stay alive. When to refill it, when to hold it, and when to dump it sets the rhythm of the fight. How Moonlight is refilled has not been described.
Moonflare
Moonflare is a special arrow that fires on a set turn, in the studio's wording. Pairing it with different skills changes the outcome: it can freeze the enemy, or let the player vanish into the dark. Neither the trigger cadence nor the list of skills it pairs with has been published.
Playstyles
Playstyle | How the studio describes it |
|---|---|
Sniper | Hold the distance and wear the prey down |
Cold hunter | Slow and freeze the target, then take the decisive shot |
Darkness volley | Apply an area darkness debuff and empty the quiver |
Hit-and-run | Vanish with Moonflare and reappear |
Whether these map onto the two-element Trait structure that the Classes hub describes for the other three classes, and how many active and passive skills the class carries, has not been stated. See Combat for the shared systems (Stagger, spell interruption, SP evasion) that every class uses.
Visual Concept

The studio wanted the Nightstalker to look like someone who survived the polar night: gray-blue eyes, pale skin, silver hair fallen loose in rough weather, and a cold face. The outfit is built for mobility, with light leather and a slim robe in dark colors so the hunter can disappear into shadow, a clean silhouette, and a quiver at the hip. The longbow carries the same identity: silver runes that glow faintly with moonlight and frost, arrows made of frost crystal, and a moon mark on the arrowhead that the note says shows the weapon was forged under the polar moonlight. Concept art was shown for both genders.
Announced Alongside
The same dev note announced that the other gender for the Executioner, Spectral Blade, and Stormbringer is being added, with identity and combat unchanged. Concept art for the male Spectral Blade and male Stormbringer was shared; the female Executioner art was still in development. See Character Customization.
