11Spells are the backbone of a build in Dimraeth. Five are equipped at a time, drawn from four sources: your race, your class, your Archetype skill tree, and the universal magic unlocked by crafted spellbooks. The game director describes them as "the foundation of your combat identity in Dimraeth".2233The Five-Spell Loadout4455The storefront states the mechanic plainly: "Equip five spells at a time and build tactical rotations and combinations around your loadout." The narrow slot count is deliberate. "Though you'll have many spells to choose from, your equipped slots are limited, so selecting the right set becomes a strategic decision."6677Spells are designed around "chain interactions and status synergy", which means the five are meant to be picked as a set rather than as five good individual choices. The July 2025 design post gives three illustrations: ignite an enemy with fire and follow with an inferno, stack bleed alongside a teammate to trigger an execution finisher, or layer frost and then freeze the target in place with a javelin of ice. Casting draws on stamina like every other action, so a rotation has to fit the same budget as dodging and blocking. See combat for that budget.8899Where Spells Come From10101111SourceHow it is obtainedNotesRace spellsFixed by the race chosen at creation.Race is the base kit, so a Minotaur and a Fairy do not start from the same place regardless of class.Class spellsFixed by the class chosen at creation. The second half of the pairing.Archetype treeUnlocked by spending on the skill tree for your race and class pairing.Contains spells and passives no other Archetype can use.Universal magicCrafted spellbooks.Open to any character that meets the spell's attribute requirements, which makes this the flexible layer of a build.1212Attribute Requirements13131414Universal magic is gated rather than free: "Your race and class offer their own spells, while crafted spellbooks grant access to universal magic, provided you meet each spell's attribute requirements."15151616That gate interacts with the attribute XP costs set by your race and class pairing, so the same spellbook is cheap for one Archetype and expensive for another. A player who wants a physical spell on a Fairy Magician, or a key magical spell on a Minotaur Brawler, has to weigh the XP cost of reaching the minimum requirement against putting the same XP into their primary attributes. Reaching a requirement is described as managing breakpoints rather than simply levelling up. See progression and leveling.17171818Spellbooks and Monster Materials19192020Spellbooks are not bought off a shelf. They are made by the allies you settle at your base: "As you recruit NPCs into your settlement, some of them will be able to craft spell books for you based on materials you gather from monsters and bosses. These spells are almost always reflections of the creature you took the materials from, and they can become a major pillar of your build once you unlock them."21212222That single line does a lot of work. It ties the spell list to what you have actually fought, it ties it to base building and to which characters you have recruited, and it makes crafting a progression system rather than a convenience. Access widens with the story: completing quests and pushing the main story forward grants "more options, deeper spell pools, and more ways to shape the direction of your character". See quests and deeds.23232424How Many Spells There Are25252626The storefront states "More than 300 spells are available in total." The figure originates in a design post from 18 July 2025, where it was framed as a target rather than a count: "At launch, we aim to offer over 300 spells, designed around chain interactions and status synergy to allow for rich and expressive builds."27272828Two qualifications matter. The word launch in that post is ambiguous between Early Access and the 1.0 release, and as of 12 September 2026 no first-party post gives a count of the spells actually present in any build. The honest reading is that 300 is the stated goal.29293030For scale, development notes published between 2023 and mid-2025 name roughly sixty distinct spells, and a note from July 2025 records thirteen more added in a single month.31313232Named Spells33333434The spells below appear by name in patch notes and development posts. A patch note proves a spell existed or was being worked on. It says nothing about cost, range, cooldown or effect, and it does not guarantee the spell survived into the Early Access build. As of 12 September 2026 no first-party source publishes numbers for any spell.35353636SpellWhat is knownDragon's Breath and Concentrated DragonBoth appear in patch notes, apparently as a related pair.FireballAppears in patch notes.RangingVortexAppears in patch notes, written as one word.BlackholeAppears in patch notes.Seed BombAppears in patch notes. Where they disagree, the in-game spelling is the only authority.38383939A separate Spell Mastery system appears in development notes, where spells level with use and display a Mastery Level. As of 12 September 2026 no design post explains what mastery grants.40404141Not Yet Documented42424343Verified as unpublished on 12 September 2026.44444545Any damage, cost, cooldown or cast time figure for any spell.A complete spell list, or a count of the spells in the Early Access build.Which resource casting consumes.
