The Wyvern is a temporary mount in Crimson Desert and the only rideable flying reptile classified as a Fleeting Companion. With a staggering 324 Attack (the highest of any temporary mount) and 500 Health, the Wyvern is an apex aerial predator that turns its rider into a devastating force on the battlefield.
Unlike the permanently summonable Blackstar dragon, the Wyvern is a one-time ride that cannot be stabled, recalled, or saved for later use. Finding and mounting a Wyvern is one of the rarest experiences in the game.
At Level 1, the Wyvern has the following base stats:
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
500 | |
100 | |
Attack | 324 |
Evade | 0 |

The Wyvern's 324 Attack is by far the highest of any temporary mount in the game. For comparison, the Gristle Wolf has 280 Attack, and most bears sit at 120-180. The trade-off is its low Stamina (100) and zero Evade, meaning the Wyvern relies on raw destructive power rather than endurance or dodging.
The Wyvern's fire breath ability is its defining combat tool: a sustained stream of flame that can burn entire groups of enemies simultaneously. The Burn status effect spreads across clustered targets, making this attack devastating against tightly packed formations.
The Wyvern can plunge from high altitude and deliver a massive area-of-effect fire explosion on impact. This dive-bomb deals devastating damage to clustered ground forces and is one of the most powerful single-attack abilities in the game. Timing the dive correctly to hit the densest part of an enemy group maximizes its effectiveness.
The Wyvern is a true flying mount capable of sustained flight. Unlike the gliding-only Kuku Bird Hatchling, the Wyvern can gain altitude, hover, and traverse the map from the air. This aerial mobility opens up new exploration paths and allows the rider to bypass ground-level obstacles entirely.
The Wyvern's 100 Stamina limits how long sustained flight can be maintained. Stamina drains during active flight, and the rider must manage their altitude and flight path to avoid running out of stamina over hostile territory.
Wyverns appear in remote mountainous areas during specific mid-to-late game encounters. The exact spawning conditions are tied to progression and region discovery. When a Wyvern appears, the player must survive its aerial assault and find an opportunity to mount it.
The Wyvern should not be confused with the Blackstar dragon, which is the permanent flying mount obtained in Chapter 11. The Blackstar has a 15-minute ride duration with a 50-minute cooldown, while the Wyvern is a single-use temporary ride.
