Follow the quest marker from the Cloister to a secluded meditation chamber in the deepest part of the Serpent Marsh. The Sage is an elderly figure seated in a glowing meditation circle. An extended cutscene plays during which the Sage explains the true nature of the Abyss: it is not merely a source of power but a parallel dimension that mirrors and amplifies the physical world's emotions and conflicts.
The Sage reveals that Kliff's unique connection to the Abyss is both a gift and a danger. He grants Kliff enhanced Abyss abilities that will be essential for the battles ahead. After the dialogue, Kliff exits the chamber with a visible change in his Axiom Force aura.
The Abyss is a parallel dimension that responds to human emotion and conflict. War and suffering strengthen its influence on the physical world.
Kliff's connection to the Abyss is rare and allows him to channel its power without losing himself. This ability is what the various factions are seeking to exploit.
