Overview

Myurdin is the leader of the Black Bear Forces and the primary antagonist of Crimson Desert. He orchestrated the devastating ambush on the Greymanes at Pailune, scattering or killing most of the group and setting the events of the main story into motion.

Myurdin is voiced by Alastair Parker, known for his role as Blackwall in Dragon Age: Inquisition, as well as roles in GreedFall and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.

Role in the Story

Myurdin's ambush on the Greymanes' homeland of Pailune serves as the inciting incident of Crimson Desert's narrative. The attack is brutal and unexpected, resulting in massive casualties among the Greymanes and forcing survivors to scatter across Pywel. Kliff MacDuff's journey to rebuild the Greymanes and confront Myurdin forms the central narrative thread of the game.

Myurdin's motivations extend beyond simple territorial conquest. As the Black Bears consolidate control over Pailune and expand their influence, Myurdin represents a specific philosophy about power and control that stands in opposition to the Greymanes' values of protecting the weak and fighting for peace.

Name Origin

The name "Myurdin" is derived from Myrddin Wyllt, a figure from Welsh medieval legend who was later adapted into the Arthurian wizard Merlin. This Celtic connection is consistent with Crimson Desert's broader use of Welsh, Scottish, and Celtic cultural influences. Kliff's surname "MacDuff" is Scottish, and the voice recording was done by a Wales-based studio.
