Mountain God Boar
May 4, 2026 at 11:02 PM
Hedged the Abyss Artifact drop on the Mountain God Boar; community sources disagree on whether the encounter drops it, so the article now flags the claim as unconfirmed pending verification
Mountain God Boar is a Bosses encounter in Crimson Desert added in Patch 1.05.00 on May 2, 2026. It is fought in the Odeck area of Pailune, north of Silver Wolf Mountain, after reading the Lumberjack's Witness Report and destroying enough trees in the surrounding forest to enrage the boss. The Mountain God Boar is a boss-class encounter rather than a tameable pet, despite being introduced in the same patch as the legendary bird pets.
Property | Value |
|---|---|
Type | Boss (single-phase, summons minions) |
Patch added | Patch 1.05.00 (May 2, 2026) |
Region | Odeck, in Pailune, north of Silver Wolf Mountain |
Trigger | Read Lumberjack's Witness Report at Pailune Saddlery, then destroy trees in the nearby forest |
Phases | Single phase with summoned smaller boar minions |
Tameable | No (boss-class encounter; cannot serve as a special mount) |
Notable drops | Fine Timber, Flawless Timber, Tree Branches. A rare Abyss Artifact drop is community-reported but not yet independently confirmed across all sources. |
The Mountain God Boar is bound to the Odeck area of Pailune, a forested zone north of Silver Wolf Mountain. The closest fast-travel waypoint is the saddlery at Pailune. From there the trail leads north into the woodland that frames Odeck. The boss appears only after the trigger conditions are met, so the area is empty of boss markers until the Lumberjack's Witness Report is read.
Travel to Pailune's Saddlery. The Lumberjack's Witness Report is posted there as a notice; some players have also reported it near a pillar inside the saddlery. Read the report to register the trigger.
Travel into the surrounding forest north of Silver Wolf Mountain. Bring a melee weapon or any tool capable of destroying small and medium trees.
Destroy trees in the area until the boss is roused. Source coverage describes the threshold as 'enough trees' rather than a fixed count, so the practical approach is to clear continuously until the Mountain God Boar emerges.
The Mountain God Boar charges into the clearing once the threshold is met. The fight begins immediately, so have potions, ammo, and skill cooldowns ready before the last tree falls.
The boss is a large boar covered in branches, leaves, and forest debris, often described as a walking forest mound. The visual silhouette is much taller and broader than standard boar enemies, and the body movement is slower than its smaller cousins, trading speed for impact.
The fight is single-phase but the Mountain God Boar summons smaller boar minions during the encounter. Defeating the main boss ends the fight, regardless of the minion count remaining on the field. The boar's primary attack pattern is heavy charge runs and slam impacts rather than fast tracking attacks, so the fight rewards patience and positioning over chase pressure.
Bait the charge. The Mountain God Boar telegraphs its charge with a clear forward-leaning posture. Bait the charge into a tree or terrain feature, then strike from the side as it recovers from the impact.
Keep minions off your back. Smaller boars summoned during the fight do meaningful damage on flank hits. Clear them between major boss windows or use crowd-control skills to keep them off your back during big punish opportunities.
Aim for stagger windows. Stagger windows after a missed charge are the cleanest damage opportunities. Save high-damage skills for those windows rather than spending them on opportunistic chip damage.
Bring a ranged option. Ranged damage is helpful between charge cycles, especially when the boss is parked at the far edge of the clearing waiting for a new pattern.
Drop | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Fine Timber | Material | Standard drop. Used in higher-tier crafting and refinement recipes. |
Flawless Timber | Material | Higher-grade timber drop. Useful for high-tier furniture, weapons, and crafting recipes. |
Tree Branches | Material | Common drop. Burns as fuel and is consumed by several crafting recipes. |
Rare | Reported as a rare endgame drop in some community sources but not confirmed across all guides; may not appear on every clear. Used in Abyss Gear progression generally. |
The Mountain God Boar cannot currently be used as a special mount. The encounter is purely a boss fight, so even with a clean clear there is no in-game option to register the boar as a ridable companion. Pearl Abyss has not committed to changing this in a future patch.
