Overview

Kylus Dagger is a dagger weapon in Crimson Desert. It is obtained as a reward from the "Woman Who Lost Her Husband" faction quest, which becomes available after defeating the Staglord boss. The dagger is given to the player by a grateful woman at Oakenshield Manor in the town of Hernand. While classified as a non-unique weapon, the Kylus Dagger is a significant upgrade over the starting dagger and features a notably high Critical Rate that makes it effective for builds centered on landing critical hits.

How to Obtain

Obtaining the Kylus Dagger requires completing a short chain of quests in the Hernand region. The full process is as follows:

1. Defeat the Staglord - The Staglord (Saigord) is an optional boss located in the Hernand area. This boss fight is part of the faction quest progression and must be completed before the follow-up quest unlocks.

2. Accept "Woman Who Lost Her Husband" - After the Staglord is defeated, this faction quest becomes available. The quest involves speaking with a widow who has been affected by the events surrounding the Staglord's reign.

3. Visit Oakenshield Manor - Travel to Oakenshield Manor in Hernand. Speak with the woman there, who thanks you for your help and presents the Kylus Dagger as a token of gratitude.

The quest itself is straightforward and primarily involves dialogue rather than combat. The real challenge is in the prerequisite Staglord boss fight.

Analysis

The Kylus Dagger is a considerable step up from the starting dagger that players begin the game with. With 16 Attack and a Level 5 Critical Rate, it trades raw damage output for an exceptionally high chance to land critical hits. This makes it particularly effective when paired with armor or accessories that boost critical damage multipliers.

At Level 5 Critical Rate, the Kylus Dagger has one of the highest crit chances among daggers available in the mid-game. The 3/10 Refinement stat indicates room for further upgrades through the refinement system, which can push its Attack stat even higher while retaining the strong critical foundation.

The tradeoff is that the Kylus Dagger offers zero Defense, making it a purely offensive choice. Players who prefer a more balanced approach may want to pair it with a shield or defensive offhand, while aggressive players can maximize damage output by combining it with critical-boosting Abyss Gear modifiers.

Comparison with Other Daggers

Tips

• Pick up the Kylus Dagger as soon as possible after defeating the Staglord. It is a significant improvement over the starting dagger and will serve you well into the mid-game.

• Pair the Kylus Dagger with critical damage-boosting accessories or Abyss Gear to maximize the benefit of its Level 5 Critical Rate.

• Refine the dagger at a blacksmith to increase its Attack stat. With a base Refinement of 3/10, there is plenty of room for improvement.

• If you prefer raw damage over critical hits, consider the Delesyian Dagger instead, which trades critical rate for a higher base Attack stat.
